Why isn't McCain's daughter Bridget in the People Cover shot?
I just realized that McCain's daughter, Bridget, is missing from the photo in People. She has been present all week with Cindy at the RNC. So why was she left out? Are they ashamed of her or something?

3. Gosh, I just can't imagine why
the dark-skinned kid wasn't in the photo. Maybe she had to do her homework or something.

:sarcasm:

6. they also have some sons who aren't there...
if it were really everyone but Bridget, then it would be worth mentioning, but it just seems like Meghan happened to be the only one there.

Anyway, they spend so much time pointing Bridget out, though, as proof her Cindy's being on par with Mother Theresa, that I doubt they'd purposely leave her out.

7. There was a 2nd girl she snatched from Bangladesh I didn't know about
She's not at the convention. They never showed her pictured or anything. I feel so sorry for Bridgett. They're using that girl. She's stuck in that idiotic family.

10. IIRC the second baby had a heart defect that needed treatment, just as Bridget's cleft palate did...
Another family adopted her.

Whether or not Cindy McCain ever met Mother Teresa in person, you probably already know that the children in her orphanage are usually the ones found abandoned in trash piles and the like. When the modern saint set out to serve the lowest of the low, she wasn't kidding. Poverty in India is eternal, as is the caste system.

9. It is possible that they are trying to protect her from her fellow Republicans...
... after the slime-fest in 2000. That's the first thing that comes to my mind.

I think Cindy should get a bit of credit for her maternal impulse to save that baby. She had a bad cleft palate and wasn't going to get adequate treatment where she was. Untreated, she would have led a life of misery and ostracism if not early death.

Then Cindy gave her a very Celtic name (Bridget, which at least goes with McCain)... Whatever, I do wonder what the mixed feelings of the adoptee are... She herself may have asked to remain in the background and not be paraded about like Sarah Palin's little "gift from Gawd."

Some credit where it's due.
