Tin foil hat time & the October surprise

Ok, I am not much of a conspiracy theorist man, and I usually laugh some stuff off; however after witnessing the theft of the last two elections I wonder sometimes. The election in 2004 motivated me to move to Canada, and when we finally did in 2006 the Conservatives won a minority government here. Harper, our Prime Minister just loves W and wishes for American healthcare and stopping gay marriage, but he can't because Canadians simply don't trust the Conservative Party.

So Harper decided last week that he is going to call an election in September (even though he can still govern for another year) which means dissolving Parliament and a month of campaigning. Everybody knows this is stupid because the polls show no chance of Harper claiming a majority. He himself thinks he will get another minority, and the timing is off. If he calls the election Sunday that means going to the polls on October 14th.

Why now? Has shrub shared anything with him? I might just be paranoid but the timing seems odd.
