Democrats Take the Gloves Off
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 08:07 AM by erpowers
After Sarah Palin's speech last night the Democrats need to take the gloves off. If she wants to be a pit bull then the Democrats need to go after her. Her comment comparing a community organizer to a mayor was a low blow. I have two responses to her comment. First, I guess being a community organizer is a great deal like being a beauty queen/contestant the only difference is being a community organizer requires a brain. Since Palin decided to go back 20 years into Barack Obama's career it seems only fair to go back 20 years into Mrs. Palin's career. My second response is somewhat along the same line, I had no idea being a United States Senator was the same as being a community organizer.

On another note concerning Palin's experience, does anyone realize that people in the military are commonly put in charge of more people than Palin was in charge of during her time as mayor. According to wikipedia the size of a brigade ranges from about 1,500- 5,000 people. Therefore, a brigade commander was in charge of almost as many people as was Palin when she was mayor. I guess in response to that Palin would say brigade commander's do not have any real duties. In addition, the commanding officers of bases and ships probably have more people under their command then she did when she was a mayor.

In addition, Matt Lauer's interview with Joe Biden also angered me. Lauer brought up the debates and claimed that Palin would be able to say she had executive experience and that she has balanced a budget, while Biden has done neither. Although it may not be the best comeback I think it should be pointed out that their are a number of mayor across the United States who have lead cities with more people than Palin did as a governor. I contend the mayor of Houston, TX. has dealt with bigger crises as a mayor than Palin has as a governor. In dealing with the budget in is very possible that Palin has balanced a budget only because the constitution of Alsaska requires the budget to be balanced, not necessarily because she has the skills to balance the budget.

Finally, Palin's speech last night actually worked to show her lack of experience. If she had to go 20 years back into Barack Obama's career to find a moment at which he had the same level of experience that she has that shows how little experience she actually has.

1. Does the governor or mayor actual "balance the budget?"
Don't they have, oh, I don't know, accountants for things like that. I get they have input but it's not like they actually sit down and go over the books, someone does that for them. Right?

2. Sorry, you lost me at 'Democrats need to be Michael Vick'
Remember there were 10x as many people at Mile High Stadium last Thursday than there are in Wasilla, AK.

5. Over the Top
The comment may have been a little over the top, but I want the Democrats to fight back. However, I have decided to change the comment.

4. According to what I've read
Palin left her town some $22 million in DEBT. She built a sports complex on land that might not belong to the city (thus embroiling it in lawsuits to this day) while ignoring the pressing need for a sewage treatment plant. Shows to me someone who is out of control when it comes to spending.
