Labor Day in Saint Paul
I got the pics my friend D sent today. Here's where they started out in the morning, near Mickey's Diner (which is, as D notes, an obligatory "establishing shot" for any film or TV episode shot in St. Paul.) As you can see, Bob Fletcher's goons are already bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

A closeup of Jane Hamsher and Glen Greenwald in the intersection near Mickey's:

Jane trying to get an angle on the action, and Fletcher's goons not-too-subtly blocking the shot. Classy, real classy.

Warning: Your Irony Meter may explode

Welcome, kiddies! Pay no attention to the big guys in the black body armor...

The Chorus Line at Seventh & Cedar

The audience doesn't seem too thrilled with the June Taylor Dancers...

One of the "Black Bloc" squads trying to stay in the shade. D and her daughter A later found themselves between two of these squadrons at Fourth & Cedar.

The beautiful old building in the middle behind the cyclone fencing is the Saint Paul Hotel where A works-- you can see why she was having trouble getting to the bus stop.

This one just made me feel sad. Like they locked up the lovely old Cathedral.

The MSNBC setup in Rice Park:

Downtown Saint Paul is one of the prettiest small-to-medium cities in America, especially on a sunny September afternoon. It's just wrenching to see it like this...

regretfully,
Bright

Practice for the big takeover. I cry for the country of my birth, my family's nation for 5 generations.

3. Thanks for the pics - K&5th rec
It is a pretty city, and it's wrenching for a non-native to see it that way too. The Chorus Line of the Imperial Guard pic is chilling.
