Back in the mid - 90's, she pushed hard for legislation to get the state capitol moved from Juneau to Wasilla. The ballot failed but not by that much. If it had passed, there would have been a real land grab because the state would have to build huge office complexes for all the state agencies, a new capitol building for the legislature, something else for the state supreme court, etc., Then the private developers would have had to build hotels, housing, malls, restaurants, more schools, etc.

I expect the Palins might have purchased a lot of very cheap land in hopes of making a huge profit.

And anyway, what else is there for a 17 year old kid in a very isolated "city" of 5,800 people to do on the wekends? :eyes:

The scandal will not be the outing itself, but the timing: the night before, Palin will address a Talibangelical conference and say how evil and wicked homosexuals are and how they should be stripped of all human rights and sent to Hell where they belong, post haste.

19. Possible New Scandal: Is Palin Working with the Russians?

The secessionist group, Alaska Independence Party, with which Palin was associated and of which her husband was a member until 2002. urged its members to infiltrate the government to carry out secessionist efforts. Perhaps Palin's political involvement in the Alaskan government was so motivated.

Russia, likely sorely regretting its bargain sale of Alaska to the United States many years ago, has evinced recent interest in the Alaska Independence Party, conducting an interview with its chairperson in April of this year in the English language edition of "Pravda". From the interview we learn that the AIP is still actively seeking to set aside the statehood vote for Alaska on the grounds that it violated UN guidelines. They want a new referendum with the option for independence on the ballot. No doubt Russia is disposed to assist these efforts.

Palin, now governor of Alaska, is now in a position to conduct secret negotiation with Russia for assistance with AIP's secessionist plans. (So perhaps Palin really does have foreign relations expertise!)

This might also explain Palin's strange behavior in not seeking medical care in Texas when her labor commenced, but rather flying for 8 hours back to Alaska was motivated by her desire to have her child be a natural born citizen of Alaska should it successfully secede.

Of course, this scenario is a bit far-fetched, but then so is the fact that McCain nominated her, a self-identified hockey mom, for vice president of the United States. Did McCain's vetting of Palin also miss the fact that she may also be another Mata Hari -- or should that be Mata Hockey?
