Bill Bennett is becoming unhinged on CNN.
Crying about how the issue of sex education (abstinence or comprehensive) should be separated from the question of her daughter's pregnancy. His voice was quivering and he almost got up and slugged Wolfie. Wolfie held his own. Bennett then goes on to say abstinence only education works best.

27. John McCain also has a big gambling habit
http://blogs.tnr.com/tnr/blogs/the_stump/archive/2008/07/06/john-mccain-s-gambling-problem.aspx

"...In the past decade, has played on Mississippi riverboats, on Indian land, in Caribbean craps pits and along the length of the Las Vegas Strip. Back in 2005 he joined a group of journalists at a magazine-industry conference in Puerto Rico, offering betting strategy on request. "Enjoying craps opens up a window on a central thread constant in John's life," says John Weaver, McCain's former chief strategist, who followed him to many a casino. "Taking a chance, playing against the odds." Aides say McCain tends to play for a few thousand dollars at a time and avoids taking markers, or loans, from the casinos, which he has helped regulate in Congress. "He never, ever plays on the house," says Mark Salter, a McCain adviser. The goal, say several people familiar with his habit, is never financial. He loves the thrill of winning and the camaraderie at the table.

Only recently have McCain's aides urged him to pull back from the pastime. In the heat of the G.O.P. primary fight last spring, he announced on a visit to the Vegas Strip that he was going to the casino floor. When his aides stopped him, fearing a public relations disaster, McCain suggested that they ask the casino to take a craps table to a private room, a high-roller privilege McCain had indulged in before. His aides, with alarm bells ringing, refused again, according to two accounts of the discussion.

"He clearly knows that this is on the borderline of what is acceptable for him to be doing," says a Republican who has watched McCain play. "And he just sort of revels in it." ..."

5. It was priceless!
Think of the contortions of logic he has to go through to arrive at the position that abstinence only sex ed works best, despite overwhelming evidence that it doesn't, in the form of the pregnant teenage daughter of a top proponent of it.

That would take care of the issue of teen pregnancies once and for all.

21. Not just teenage.
We'd become and endangered species!

Actually...the best form of birth contol would be a Bill Bennett mask!

Does anyone remember that episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" where Larry has his wifes permission to have sex with a hot blonde. He's rolling around on the couch with her getting hot and bothered. Then notices a framed picture of Bush! Let's just say he "lost" his enthusiasm!

38. "Sex Education Is A State Level Topic; CNN Has NO RIGHT To Discuss This On NATIONAL TV"
He said something like that That is not an exact quote, but he said something like very very similar. Might have said "no business" instead of "no right" either way, you are right. He was about to punch Wolf. It was crazy. I give props to Wolf for standing his ground and saying "YES WE DO NEED TO DISCUSS THIS."

44. But he's no PR dummy. His props to Barack were the basis of his firewalling the issue ....
... and admonishment of CNN for daring to take the discussion to abstinence-only education. So, basically, Palin cannot be questioned on ANYTHING related to Bristol's pregnancy, since it involves a family member and family are off-limits.

45. What do you call the parents of teens who rely on abstinence only education?
Grand-parents.

I have now gone through this (twice) in the part of my family that considers itself the most religious (and most condescending) of us all.

If we're ever going to save this planet, we're going to have to (temporarily) sterilize all of us and require that prospective parents take an antidote together every day for 30 days in order to conceive. The teen pregnancy problem would be eliminated overnight.
