Is Palin nothing more than a BLUFF? Was she a bluff from day one?
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 01:02 PM by TwilightZone
As bizarre as it may seem, the possibility that Palin is basically just a fill-in until the "real" VP candidate is announced is starting to make some sense.

It would be an enormous political gamble, but Palin did what they wanted her to - she stole the limelight from the very successful Democratic convention and distracted attention from Obama's brilliant speech.

Is it possible that she's there simply to buy the Republicans time?

For the record, I think she's not going anywhere, but the possibility that she's just a placeholder crossed my mind.

1. I think you give them more credit than they deserve for competence
I know they'd love to pull off something like this but for all the publicity they get for being sneaky and conniving, they are really too stupid to accomplish it. Rove is nothing but a pale pasty dumpy mama's boy, not some kinda political genius and McCain? Well, he was a POW.

2. While I agree with your point...
I'm sure the McCain camp would spin such a maneuver as the ultimate "Maverick" move.

3. If this was the case... he'd lose those in his own party for duping them and making them look like
fools... like he did Palin.

5. I have Read Blog Posts
I have read blog posts and responses on our local paper's website that are stating this is all a masterful stroke by McCain to quiet his religious right. He gave then what they wanted and look what happened.

Now he can choose who he really wants and they will fall quietly behind because they are cowed.

I personally don't think he is that smart but that seems to be an emerging talking point.

7. That would mean they have brains.
They don't.

This is an unprecedented brain dead fuck up on McCain's part. He didn't properly vet his VP pick and this is the fallout.

8. That would seem to be the case.
Though, at this point, replacing Palin might actually be better than keeping her on the ticket.

It's a toss-up, really. Lucky for us, I think he's screwed either way.
