Something is fishy here
On a few discussion boards the Right wingers are all saying, oK Kerry's Nam deal may or may not be fishy but let's drop the argument.

Three days ago they were gung ho.

Anybody else seeing that?

2. they quickly parrot whatever they're told by rove
over the last few days it's gone from "he didn't earn them" to "he brought this on himself" to "what SBV?". the wingers and the tv pundits are well-trained to, er, flip-flop at a moment's notice as soon as rove tells them what to say that day.

3. No kidding? They lost!
Ever see a cat fall? And give you a look that says, "I meant to do that." And then walk away as if something had been accomplished?

They're pretending they didn't fall.

4. IMO, it's because there's serious probing into Bush's
military records, which I believe AP news service filed legal papers to get military records and the Bush Admin has, of course, refused to allow that to happen. When you think about it, the news media hasn't taken the word of the military and eyewitnesses to Kerry's version of what happened in Nam, yet they take their word that Bush's military records were "accidently" destroyed. Kind of makes the news media look like idiots, and they are idiots for keeping this rant against Kerry going. The last thing Bush wants is anybody nosing around his records. Also, his Texas driving records somehow dissappeared also - makes ya go hmmmmmmmmm.

5. The word is out now

time to drop this, time to move on.

Damage is done. Any more time spent here will fully expose
the not-so-swift liars... PLUS there is more shit hitting the
fan about *, namely wearing medals (in the form of ribbons) that
he clearly did not earn, plus the developing story of how
* got into the TANG in the first place. Both of those could
damage * with the very same Vietnam vets he just scored some
points with. So... time to move on. Let's let the past military
records alone now. No need to dredge this all up.

Of course, KERRY should really pile this on, we need to slam
back... only with the TRUTH, not about Kerry, but about SHRUBYA.
Slime him worse than he just slimed Kerry, especially with the
vets. We need a group of Vets, all wearing their medals, saying
that anyone wearing a medal they did not earn violate military
code AND violate the sacred trust of all who fought bravely and
earned the medals that were given to them.

in thinking that Prescott Bush,
Dubya's grandaddy,
also got in trouble over claiming that some medals were his?

8. Nope! Prescott cooked up a real big lie,

I would guess as a joke, but the folks back home told the newspapers and it was printed up as actual news.

He was, according to the news, awarded the highest decorations given for heroism by the US, England, and France. Two weeks later, his mama wrote a letter to the paper saying it was all a mistake. . .

9. Naw, Grandaddy Prescott Deserved a Medal
from Adolph Hitler!

Certainly not from our country, he was a traitor
for bankrolling the Nazis.

7. Yes, I am seeing that
Probably because

a) Kerry's charge that Bush is behind the shitboat ads is sticking.

b) Bush's "service" is being openly challenged and has gotten more media play of late than in the past.

c) Bush has said that he doesn't think Kerry is lying about Vietnam and that Kerry's service was more honorable than his.

Rove has decided that it's time to back off on all this stuff, it hits the right-wing echo chamber, and next thing we know we're all hearing these same exact talking points.

12. It's getting turned around now so it looks like Bush is behind the ads.
If there is a backlash against the ads and Bush isn't seen as being behind them, he skates. But that doesn't seem to be happening, according to the most recent polls; people seem to feel Bush is behind the ads. The impact of the ads on Kerry seem to has reached its zenith, so now it's a question of what fallout Bush will suffer.

One of the downsides of negative campaigning is that once the public identifies you with a deceitful negative attack, like this one, it hurts your credibility with any other negative attacks. As the Swift Hoaxers are proven more and more to be liars, and as Bush is identified with them, Bush is then the liar. Since Bush is locked in to a negative campaign, his future attacks are going to be compromised to the extent that this one looks dishonest.

14. You never want your propaganda to lay around and get debunked
Karl Rove does this trick well. This whole swift boat crap was planed out just like this. By this time next week you will not hear a peep about if from the corporate media. The whole lot these media editors and directors are just pure ______________ (you fill in the blank).
