McCain's choice of Palin is history repeating itself
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 06:11 PM by Prefer
The metaphor is that this is Mccain's plane blowing up all over the deck again. He's not even going to get into battle.

This ticket is DOA because of Palin's baby scandal. And yes it is a damaging scandal, no matter which way it goes.

I want to see reporters digging into investigative questions about this topic.

6. it's going to take more than KO...

Personally, I don't think we need to make it a huge issue. I don't care if it becomes one, but there are many other problems with Palin that are even more critical - like her complete lack of real experience.

3. Not if we bury it as so many have suggested.
There is plenty of time.

What will happen is either

1. they will trot out something to diffuse it, some photo of her with a big bump.

2. they will ignore it completely, but the whisper effect will do more damage than if it were dealt with

3. they will assign all the trolls to spread astroturf telling us it is a waste of time.

4. 'Baby scandal'? Don't make me laugh...if the ticket is DOA, it's because of her ethics issues.
Which speak directly to her governing ability, and are more pertinent and relevant than this nonsense about whether or not her kid is actually hers.

9. Lying about this IS an ethics issue
what about the real father? Isn't he being wronged? The baby doesn't get to know who his real father is? Doesn't that complicate health assessments because it puts in place a false genetic history? What if the real father has a history of something in the family that the baby needs to know about so he can be screened for it?

It is very important to get to the bottom of this for a variety of reasons.

8. DUers are so busy trying to attack Palin---she must have us
quaking in our boots.

VPs are not that important in the big picture but our activists
surely show fear and trembling about Palin.

McCain is the top of the ticket.

We continue to permit the CONSERVATISM (Economic Conservatism) to
go unattacked. When Joe Sixpack goes into the booth he is not
going to be worried about GWB. If we have permitted him to believe
Economic Conservatism is the best thing since sliced bread, guess
WHAT!!! He will pull the lever or touch the button for the GOP.

11. McCain engaged in very bizarre behavior here
After months and months of campaigning, he had one 15 minute interview with his Vice President to be to get to know her and this was at a reception. Then he called her on the telephone to ask her to run while she was enjoying the Alaska State Fair. Very bizarre.

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-mccainveep30-2008aug30,0,923381.story

According to this article, McCain met privately with Palin for only 15 minutes at a national Governor's conference. And it was at a reception, where presumably people were milling around chatting:

"Another advisor, Charlie Black, said McCain and Palin spent about 90 minutes in a meeting with about six other governors and then spoke privately for about 15 minutes that night at a reception."

Also according to the article, he telephoned the lady while she was enjoying the Alaska State Fair to ask her to run with him:

"...Finally, working from his home in Phoenix, McCain arranged to speak with Palin by telephone Sunday while she was at the Alaska State Fair."

15. Hell fucking no.
water break means "GO to Hospital NOW!".

I have 3 children, so that's three births my wife has done.

Also - not showing? Impossible with that figure. IF you are 300 lbs, maybe, but ~130? please...
