ENOUGH w/ the"Experience" Garbage from the Right. October 1962 is all we need to say
Nixon had way more executive experience than JFK in 1960 (lieutenant commander in the navy, then senator and 8yrs asVP), and if Nixon had been president in October of 1962, the Joint Chiefs and Tricky Dick would have had us in a nuclear war. I think the parallels to the situation we are in right now to what the Kennedy administration faced with Russia over Berlin in 61 and the Cuban Missile Crisis in 62, are profound. If someone like McCain had been at the helm, the world as we know it would most likely be gone now. It was only Kennedy's brilliance and political wisdom that saved us. Instead of bluster and saber rattling, he found a way through back channel diplomacy to give Kruschev an "out" in order to save face. What are the odds that McGrumpy and Palin could ever pull off something like that? If only the american people had a better grasp of their own history.

2. I think i missed something here. that thread

is about us dems not attacking Palin's inexperience. ( i agree her inexperience is profound and needs to be addressed). my point here was that when the right attacks Obama for being inexperienced, the apt parallel torespond with is JFK. What makes Obama qualified is what made JFK qualified. Sorry if that didn't come across correctly. I thought the last sentence in my first post made it clear what my meaning was.

4. Forty-six years ago is not "all we need to say". Think about it: In 1962, it would be like saying,
"Remember 1916."

And we did not say that.

5. Fair enough. But...
i simply meant it with reference to Obama's qualifications to lead. maybe i've missed your point, though--i'm not clear how wilson's election would have been relevant to the cuban missile crisis in this context. or are you referring to some other event in 1916. at any rate, i didn't intend to suggest that we just say the words "october 1962." mea culpa for the unclarity.

6. Abraham Lincoln had about as much experience
as Obama does now at this point.

I think he turned out ok -don't you?

I told that to a Freeper once and that idiot said that Lincoln had been a general in the Civil War and became president half way through the war.

I felt embarassed for the guy. He was totally into the position. I was totally dumbfounded.
