My response when local organizations call me asking for donations
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 02:16 PM by FrenchieCat
especially if I'm not going to donate (because I cannot donate to everyone):

"I can't even afford Health Insurance. Call met next year, after the elections. Maybe by then, we will have a President who makes health insurance part of his priority".

Just food for thought for that particular caller....in case it is a Republican.

2. I always ask for an website address......
or ask them to mail a contribution request.

But like I said, every bit that we can say to help us in November should be said.

4. I Had A Few Really Pushy...
and they really pushed my buttons. After another day of medical bills I didn't need someone else wanting money so when the pest started it with his "but..you can" I said "Don't tell me your problems. Go ask Bush or any of his "fan club"--they are the only ones with any money these days. Of course he came back to "but that's not the point" and I said "It is exactly the point. If they would quit taking from the little guy we would have more money to donate. Bush and company take the money but how much do THEY donate." He gave up.
