Sarah isn't competing against Obama,
She's competing against Joe Biden.

1. Unfortunately, that's unlikely to be the case.
McCain picked her as a knee-jerk reaction to Obama, not Biden, and the media will most definitely make that comparison rather than the more applicable one.

3. And how does this help him?
Obama supporters know that he has enough experience, skill, knowledge, etc...to be president. That's why we made him or nom. McCain is showing HIS SUPPORTERS that his VP pick, who is a heart beat away from the presidency is as inexperienced as they think Obama is.

Get it...his VP pick is not going to change any democrats minds, but may change republican minds.

4. It doesn't help him in November. It was intended to steal the spotlight short-term.

That mission was, of course, accomplished. I think that McCain knew that he had to stop the 24/7 coverage the Democratic convention was getting (nearly all of it unquestionably positive) or this election was over immediately.

So, he threw the Hail Mary Palin pass hoping it would stop the bleeding. It did, temporarily, but it does nothing for him in November.

6. I think that is one of the reasons why they picked Palin. So Obama would
be compared to her and diminished as a candidate in the process. He should only ever be compared to McCain. Who he then beats.
