Google Trends point to REAL delta between candidates?
Folks,

I'm a long-time Google Trends user and tonight I did a comparison between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin as it relates to seaching on Google...

http://www.google.com/trends?q=sarah+palin%2C+joe+biden&ctab=0&geo=all&date=2008-8&sort=0

The uh... difference is fairly stark! The only people that seem to care are those in Alaska... Joe didn't get his home state in the top search region. Apparently people in Alaska don't even know their own governor.

2. Google Trends shows you...
... how many searched are done for certain terms per day. It's a good way to determine the "pulse" of any given subject or search term.

You can see from the URL I pasted that Joe Biden still generates far, far more searches than Palin.

I think it shows the difference between phone polling and reality in an election where one candidate has secured the savvy, under-30 vote. They are the ones searching Google for information, they don't care about Palin at all. She has gotten no appreciable "Google bounce".

Biden, on the other hand, had a HUGE bounce the day of the VP announcement.
