McCain has lost all ability for rationality
This VP pick is more evidence that McCain and the Republican Party just don't get it.

They pick Palin over Tom Ridge???

Tom Ridge. 12 years in congress. Two term Governor of one of the largest states in the country, Pennsylvania, which is possibly in play. Secretary of Homeland Security. Harvard and Dickinson for his J.D. Served as an infantry staff sergeant in Vietnam.

Other than Tom Ridge being pro-choice, explain to me how he's an inferior candidate to Palin? Does being a pro-choice creationist trump all that experience?

I disagree with many of Tom Ridge's positions, and I'd strongly oppose any ticket he was on, but I'd still feel 1,000 times better about him being a heartbeat away from the presidency than Palin. This choice is just ridiculous.

In other news, Obama rocked the house last night and I am so excited to be casting my vote for him. For the first time in my life I'm truly 100% voting for a candidate, rather than against someone else.

1. this is the truth. And should doom McCain-
but the media still has their spin machine revving up.

I personally feared he'd choose Rice- she has far more 'experience' and 'qualifications' than Palin, but she also has the strings to Bush, and a darker skin color- which I hate to say I believe is a particular problem for the present republican voters.

Maybe he realized he was up against an outstanding team, and wanted to go down spectacularly-
cause, Obama/Biden is a AAAAAAA team.

:hi:

2. Well given that he hides his dark skinned daughter
I doubt he'd pick one for VP.

It's what it's being described as. A Hail Mary pass. The problem with Hail Mary passes is that they usually don't work.

If I were a Republican I'd be completely disgusted with this pick. Sure the spin machine will do it's thing and plenty of people will be blinded by it but this election is looking mroe and more like a 10 point spread for Obama whcih is huge.

It's just another example of how Republicans vote exactly how they believe imaginary Libruls do: they rant and rave about Hollywood celebs and "who cares what they think?" But they're the only party that makes actors governors of the state with (I believe) the largest economy in the US and also makes them president.

They say that Obama, along with any other successful black man, benefits from being black through de facto affirmative action; yet they are the ones who make a black man who's only been a judge for about five minutes a Supreme Court Justice.

Likewise, they say that Hillary is only where she is because she's a woman and no one wants to take her on lest they look mean; yet they make a woefully inexperienced and unqualified woman their candidate for vice president (and likely president, since McCain will doubtfully survive the full four years), largely because she's a woman.

Republicans criticize liberals for promoting unqualified blacks, women, and celebrities, yet Republicans are the ones who are actually making them governors, SC Justices, and presidents.
