PALIN: I have NO IDEA what the VP even does
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 10:55 AM by yourguide
Start this around 2:58

Palin: "As for that V.P. talk all the time, Ill tell you, I still cant answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day? Im used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that V.P .slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that were trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question."

67. She CAN'T be serious!!
Huh?? Since when does the Vice President make sure the country does GOOD for THEIR state??

The Vice President is FOR the USA, not for the state from which they came! That is like me being the VP and giving preferencial treatment to the State of California because that is where I came from.

53. frighteningly enough, I think I can make "sense" of her statement
She's used to working real hard up there as governor of Alaska.

She wants to make sure that as vice president of the US, one frail heartbeat away from the presidency, she won't just be an ornament or figurehead. She wants to be sure the job will be meaty enough for somebody of her importance and talent before she'll even consider it.

Also, to be sure that as vice president of the US, she'll be in a position to take care of Alaska, the state on which all of our security, prosperity and freedom, depends. (After all, they have oil, which is all that matters in the world).

Oh. My. God. Somebody please wake us up from this nightmare.

64. I watched an interview she did on CNBC, and all she talked about was Alaska
and Making sure Alaska gets what it needs, This interview was after the announcement of her being VP
and I kept asking my self, does she realize there are 49 other states and several terrioties that she will have to make a priority now that she is the VP pick?

It was weird, It was like her platform will be ALASKA ALASKA ALASKA
that's umm scary

61. Yeah, but if McCain wins
Reallistically there would be an extremely high chance of the VP taking over within the 4 years - he's not exactly the picture of youthful health.

At least with Bush, you knew Cheney was gonna stay in the shadows with his minions.

21. Gerald Ford called it--
he said that the only way he saw a woman being president, was that a man would pick one as their running mate, and that the president would die in office. He also said that after that, this country would be more oprn to having a woman as POTUS.

It's in the book that was written about/by him, and Frank, and was published after he died.

23. This is another example of McCain's temperament and judgment
No matter what spin the Republicans try to put on McCain's choice, no matter how much lipstick they put on this pig, this has to be one of the biggest political blunders in memory, and it is further indication of McCain's temperament and judgment (or, rather, lack thereof).

Sarah who? From where? AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE VP DOES???!

***K&R***

PS A link to Census Bureau statistics on the state the woman who John McCain considers fit to be chief executive as well as commander-in-chief governs.

http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/02000.html

Check out that population:

Population definition and source info Population, 2006 estimate 670,053 299,398,484

I've lived in cities with higher populations. Is McCain serious? Is this some kind of campaign joke? Or is McCain really that stupid?

35. You're absolutely right
It's indicative of the low regard McCain has for not only the office of VP but for the intelligence of the American people as well. How can McCain rail against lack of experience for months then pick someone with less experience than any other VP choice mentioned?

CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT MCCAIN AND HIS "BUSH" LEAGUE STAFF WOULD HAVE DONE IF OBAMA CHOSE A FIRST TERM GOVERNOR FROM, SAY, HAWAII AS HIS RUNNING MATE???!

I don't care how well Palin "plays" to McCain's base, I don't care what her personal story is, I don't care about anything about her because she is completely and utterly unqualified to hold the office of Vice-President of the United States. This ludicrous choice is a symbol of what a McCain presidency would be. Playing it by ear like the hot dogging fly boy that he is.

Doesn't that sound a bit too familiar? It should.

McCain '08
Four more years
(If he lives out his term.)
(If not, then it's Palin -- and anybody's guess.)

32. Palin is a creationist idiot! She does have a bachelors degree in communications/journalism
from the U of Idaho, but evidently she never really grasped the concept of science.

From the Anchorage Daily News in 2006, at http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/elections/v-printer/st... :

"Creation science' enters the race

GOVERNOR: Palin is only candidate to suggest it should be discussed in schools.

By TOM KIZZIA Anchorage Daily News (Published: October 27, 2006)

The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms.

Palin was answering a question from the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important, and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both." Her main opponents, Democrat Tony Knowles and Independent Andrew Halcro, said such alternatives to evolution should be kept out of science classrooms. Halcro called such lessons "religious-based" and said the place for them might be a philosophy or sociology class.

The question has divided local school boards in several places around the country and has come up in Alaska before, including once before the state Board of Education in 1993. The teaching of creationism, which relies on the biblical account of the creation of life, has been ruled by the U.S. Supreme Court as an unconstitutional injection of religion into public education."

Which just happens to be exactly what she is doing in Alaska.

Dem's need to bring up more that IF McCain is elected, he will be faced with a Dem majority Senate, and Dem majority house. Is Palin prepared in any way to interface with Congress for the President on the MAJOR compromises that would need to take place under this type of scenario? Not even close. She has never worked with Congress on ANYTHING.

Even with a Dem majority Senate and House, and an Obama/Biden presidency, there is a massive amount of work Biden is going to have to do to get through changes to Health Care, College Tax Credits, Tax Reform, Energy Policy, Mortgage Financing Oversight, changing directions in Iraq, stopping the privatization of our military, etc. Biden has over 30 years of experience working with/in congress and it will still be very difficult.

73. That's right, put your state first before the country as a whole.

78. Reading Between the Lines, She's saying that she wants
to be sure she'll have input or even control on Alaska policies like pipeline, etc., not that she doesn't know the VP job in the abstract. People are underestimating both her intelligence and her corruption. Saintly fundy and all that.
