As a young American I offer my own reflection of tonights event
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 11:25 PM by KeSs
I wrote down some of my feelings immediately following the speech on a piece of paper so that I would remember how I felt this night for the rest of my life. I was still sitting on my couch at the time and grabbed the back of an envelope because i knew this was important. I would like to share (forgive the spelling and lack of direction):

Thursday, August 28th, 2008 - 11:15pm

I feel humble, inspired, lucky, and thankful tonight. This is the most emotional I have ever felt about a political or cultural event. I feel lucky to have witnessed something that even 3 years ago I thought I would never witness, and not just because of the race issue, but because for the first time in my life I feel that a person who has taken a stand for something so important, so powerful, and so right, has a chance to represent not only America, but the good of man.

I truly feel that this was a step towards the betterment of mankind.

4. As an old American, I feel the same way.
I haven't been this inspired and hopeful since the Kennedy years. This is our chance to bring the real America back, and it's up to your generation to keep it going.

7. Another thing I want you to remember is that voting passionately
for a Presidential candidate happens probably once in your lifetime. I'm 65 and it's never happened to me before.

9. I am more than three times your age...
...and the speech made me feel the same. I was your age in the Kennedy years. His speeches were inspiring to be sure, but tonight was, in your words "so important, so powerful."
