1. Well, the circular array around the center stage couldn't be changed.
It is, after all, in a sport's stadium.

And wouldn't it be more appropriate to say it looks like an ancient Greek theater?

2. Start of Democracy, backdrop to MLK's speech, but also columns in 2004 Bush set.
Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 12:49 AM by MarjorieG
That set had a cross on the lecturn, cleverly designed, and he walked out in great ceremony and light. Talk about deity and pomp.

5. Thanks, did not even think about that association. Obviously the
distortion coming from the MSM is trying to represent it more like a circus

Thanks for the reasoning

18. Considering that as part of the larger Cult Of Personality that actually existed around Bush
(up until Katrina and Iraq REALLY turned south), they really have no right to complain.

16. No, I understand that.
It's just... this has been put up more than once today.

But I completely understand if you're hearing about it for the first time.

4. Yeah, they should have it in a high school gymnasium
Obama should come out from behind a stack of rubber mats, wearing sackcloth... no, scratch that, too Jesus-like... wearing coveralls, carrying a brush and shovel....

***puhlease***

:sarcasm:

How could you even echo that dumb-ass GOP talking point here?

8. because I am trying to understand what is up with that. I am asking about it
not trying to push any right wing talking point, come on

A previous response actually clarified the context for me which was the symbol of where Democracy started from, i.e. Greece

17. Gosh. I always google
or use search before I post something, especially if it's contentious. Funny that people who are so much more savvy than the idiot hicks can't figure out how to educate themselves without stirring up shit.

7. Only a problem for the jealous pundits.....
that's what happens when we have a heavy hitter, while the pundits are lightweights.

It is not Barack or the problem of the American people.
Too bad most of these pundits haven't achieved anything
beyond reading news and being traitors to their country.

Also, George Bush had a similar set at his convention.

There's a picture of it somwhere!

And they want to bitch because a self made man, a piller in his community, a Constitutional scholar, beloved by millions wants to start the journey to save our country from the same spot..

Go fuck yourself Media! You had your roller skating, cigar smoking chimp show, he opened up the grain stores to your subsideraries, the war machine makers.. Get off the bullshit rubber tongue biz so we can replentish the country so you can rob us blind again in 20 years..

11. Discussed in threads, like this one at 8:21 am... Lot's of commentary.
It was to become an attack but McCain and Bush have both presented before columns, it's not gonna fly, nothing to worry about.

And, it's really an appropriate tribute to MLKs speech before the Lincoln Memorial, our nation's capitol...

...and the roots of Democracy!!!

27. I refer all to David Axelrod's pitch-perfect response to this ridiculous new line of McCain attack:
File under "Department of This Is How It's Done."

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/08/obama-camp-resp.html

"I know that Sen. McCain and his people have been shooting barbs about the 'opulence' of our convention from the mountaintop at Sedona at the McCain estate. I don't think it warrants a response." - David Axelrod

Everyone should adopt Axelrod's approach, here. :-)
