The same guy wrote a letter to Baldwin County, AL government... sounds like just a Republican fanboy.

To my fellow citizens of Baldwin County,
Recently I was shocked to see that the wastewater utility that serves my home, Baldwin County Sewer Service, was raising its rates. I felt like my old rate of $32.50 per month was excessive. The new rate is $54.50 per month, which I consider downright abusive. I was even more surprised to find that our own Baldwin County Commission is powerless to help us. Interestingly, despite its name, Baldwin County Sewer Service has absolutely no connection to the Baldwin County government. It is a private business. It is free to set its own rates. The Baldwin County Commission has no authority to regulate its rates or oversee this private business. In order to change this, legislation by our state government is required. Legislation to accomplish this was introduced during the last legislative session. It passed the State House of Representatives but not the State Senate. If you feel that private sewer services and their rates in Alabama should be regulated by the County Commissions, please contact your elected officials. Their phone numbers and e-mail addresses are shown below. For reference, I have researched current sewer rates at several locations in our area and state. Most sewer rates are based on the amount of water usage. As an example, this month, our water household usage for three occupants ran 4600 gallons last month. Shown below are the rates I found. Since many of our retired and part time residents use very little water, I have quoted the charge for a low rate of water usage, 2000 gallons per month. I have also quoted the rate for 6000 gallons of water usage per month, an amount a typical family might use. Below are rates for several comparable municipalities and counties. I have included a link to each so you can verify the rates yourself. Lastly, please forward this e-mail to other Baldwin County citizens, particularly those served by Baldwin County Sewer Service.
