1. I don't think I believe that America is

the ONLY place in the world where a person can make something of themselves. I have never been out of the country but I don't buy it.

when very very few others were -at least for some people.

and almost every place there is in the world there is where people have similar opportunity where at some point either partially founded or had their asses saved by American servicemen.

I'm down to look at the dark underbelly of our American history, at the same time, I see over and over the success stories that give me hope about this country even when we are going through the worst.

Don't you know that with proper application of positive thinking, you can live the American Dream, become rich and famous and have a fancy car you can park in front of your big house? You will also have palm trees. The American Dream always seems to have palm trees.

9. It's not enough to have palm trees

The palm trees must be in front of an exceptionally showy McMansion and you must also have an expensive and impractical sports car. PLUS, you have so much leisure time that you can hang around the expensive and impractical sports car and lean on it in a very photogenic way. You should watch the early-morning infomercials--they explain this in great detail.
