It didn't work in 2004, because apparently the American people hadn't had quite enough misery and economic hard times yet, but now we've had eight L-O-N-G years of bad times, and even the smuggest republicans I know have been touched (in some cases hammered) by this bad economy, or have lost someone in Iraq, and honestly I'd say we've had enough of depressing, negative shit. People REALLY want to know that things are going to get better.
They don't want to hear the litany of 9/11!!!!! TERRORISM!!!!
They don't want to see pictures of McDouche's prison cell. They don't want to re-hash Vietnam ALL. OVER. AGAN. for the millionth time. (Especially think about those people born during or after Vietnam.)
People have fear fatigue.
They have economy fatigue.
I know more people know than I ever have before who have lost their jobs, lost their health coverage, lost their homes, lost everything.
That's why Obama's hopeful, optimistic campaign has been so successful. Of course the media dickheads are gunning for republicans, because their asses are still covered financially. Media bigwigs are NOT the Americans who have gone through job losses, foreclosures, loss of health care, or losing loved ones in Iraq.
Regular Americans have.
So yeah, go negative, Republicans. Go negative and stay there and see what it gets you. In 2004, (along with some shenanigans?) it seemed to work. But try it now, in 2008, and see what happens.
