Evidence GOP will steal the election?
Doesn't Obama/Biden have lawyers and such to stop this?

1. There were supposed to be teams of lawyers set up in '04 for this very reason.
Lotta good it did in Ohio.

2. It's difficult. The FEC won't act during election season so as not to "affect the election"
so you're limited as to what you can do.

7. I wonder how many football teams approach a big game with a defeatist attitude?
I am convinced that we will win this one fair in square in spite of the Republicans trying to steal the election. Winners may certainly lose, but they never approach a big contest with the idea that they probably will lose. That's what losers do.

4. No...they're called VOTERS in overwhelming numbers.
We will choke the GOP with sheer volume.

5. The last stolen elections could have been stopped.
But you needed more than lawyers...

6. Since they all but told us they would try in 2004 and most likely succeeded,
there is no reason to believe that they will not try again. The fact they were able to succeed in stealing an election in 2004 when we knew they would try makes Democrats look particularly feckless. I hope that all the big talk about stopping them this year is more than just words.

8. Kerry/Edwards had 17,000 lawyers in 2004, Obama will have more
I was on the ground in Florida for the 2004 election as part of the Kerry Edwards voter protection team. We had 3,000 out of state attorneys in Florida.

The Obama campaign had a significant legal team during the primaries. We had attorneys at each of the credential committee meetings for the senate district/county conventions. The Obama campaign is signing up attorneys already and is very well organized on this front. I predict that we will have attorneys in all 50 states and in far greater numbers than in 2004.

There is only so much that an attorney can do if the voters do not turn out.

9. And Republicans have been trained to obstruct and delay the voting process.
Republicans steal elections by multiple methods. Lawyers can monitor things but can't really stop election fraud. There are still many problems in using the Republican owned electronic voting machines because most do not have auditable paper trails.

One Republican way to delay voting and discourage Democrats by making them stand in line for hours and hours is to challenge voters as they come in to vote. Even if they can show they are indeed legitimate, the process of challenging slows things down. They did this a lot in 2004 and I read that they are planning to do so again.

That's your link to Thom Hartmann's review of Congressman Conyers' report on Ohio 2004.

11. More evidence on election stealing techniques -- Not Counting "Spoiled" Votes
How They Stole Ohio: The GOP 4-step Recipe to 'Blackwell' the USA in 2008
Abracadabra: Three Million Votes Vanish AN EXCLUSIVE BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION by Greg Palast

This is a fact: On November 2, 2004, in the State of Ohio, 239,127 votes for President of the United States were dumped, rejected, blocked, lost and left to rot uncounted. And not just anyone's vote. Dive into the electoral dumpster and these "spoiled" votes have a very dark color indeed.

In another life, I taught statistics. And these statistics stank: the raw data tells us that if you are a Black voter, the chance of you losing your vote to technical errors in voting machinery is 900% higher than if you were a white voter.

Any guesses as to whom those African-Americans chose for president on those junked ballots? Check Ohio's racial demographics, do the numbers, and there it is: Kerry won Ohio. And that, too, is a fact. A fact that could not get reported in the USA.

But the shoplifting of those votes in Ohio was just the tip of the theft-berg. November 2, 2004 was a national ballot-box bonfire. In total, over three million votes (3,600,380 to be exact) were cast -- marked, punched, pulled -- YET NEVER COUNTED. I'm not talking about the Ukraine or Uganda. I'm talking about the United States of America "with liberty and justice for all."

13. If we all vote on PAPER ballots, can we still WIN?
If not, why bother even watching the Democratic Convention (on now on CSPAN)?

Still voting, though....
