Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 06:55 AM by flpoljunkie

NBC News reports the ailing Senator has arrived in Denver, with plans to address the convention Monday night.

Appearance by liberal lion fighting brain cancer expected to be emotion high and full of symbolism.

BOSTON GLOBE: “The Senator has recently told people that he has a speech written for the convention and that he badly wants to come.”

14. I heard on CNN last night that his doctor wasn't advising it
Then I heard a report that his son said he would be there is the doctor gives him the go-ahead. Reportedly the doctor was concerned about infection.

15. Oh! CNN! The most trusted name blahblahblah.
I kid - sorta. Thanks. I imagine infection could be a problem with his weakened immune system. That chemo is nasty stuff.

:)

Yes, chemo is pretty nasty.

5. I absolutely adore my senior Senator.
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 07:05 AM by Marrah_G
I hope he doesn't hasten his illness by doing this. I want his family to have as much time as possible with him. He's server my family and my state so very well and for so long, I just would feel so guilty if this robbed his family of any extra time.

Edited to add: I will be watching him with great pride and probably alot of tears tonight.

11. Dang child birth makes me cry about everything now
I cry everytime I see the pictures of Biden being sworn in at his sons bedside,

I cry everytime I even think about Obama winning in Nov

and i know I will bawl like a baby when the entire audience gets up on their feet when Kenndy takes the stage.

22. Ted Kennedy made what I
personally consider the best political speech ever, in 1980. It could be given this year, virtually word for word, and you'd never guess that it was written nearly 30 years ago. Go here http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/tedkennedy1980dnc.htm to read or listen to the entire speech.

It ends with, for me, the best and most inspiring lines ever:

For me, a few hours ago, this campaign came to an end. For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.
