Very funny occurrence in Philly and suburbs:
Many years ago, there was a Philadelphia paper called The Evening Bulletin (or The Sunday Bulletin). It was a populist newspaper which was the answer to the then RW Annenberg-micromanaged Philadelphia Inquirer (which was the New York Post but Worse, much worse). The Bulletin folded in the early 80's, which was a shame.

Recently, there has been a new paper in town, a freebie, called The Bulletin which uses the same typeface (clever!) which is a real RW rag...it's like reading FOX News. Edited by the former RW reactionary editor of the Main Line Times (he got canned), it is absolutely, well...unreadable.

The company has these pristine white boxes wherein the paper is distributed but, and get this...someone had 5x7 inch bright white stickers printed up which say:

The Bush-McCain Times

in the NYT typeface and the boxes are plastered with these stickers and I was sort of picking on one while waiting for the train and they just don't peel.

It's funny...or maybe you have to be there. It's sort of like if you put on FOX News on your TV and all over the screen you saw the yellow word "Asshole"

2. My parents considered subscribing
Because they thought the Inquirer was "too mean" to the Catholic Church.

Yikes - Not only has Tierney taken the Inquirer to the right, but the Bulletin is a useless rag.

Why is it that when I travel, I see right-wing places like San Diego and Orange County have papers that reflect their populations' dominant political persuasion, and yet the Inquirer makes sure they balance progressive voices with right wing nuts (Santorum?). God forbid our city's paper reflect OUR dominant political persuasion.

3. You know anyone who works over at the Inky?
I do..many staff, colunmnists and reporters. the pressure from Tierney and Co. is unbearable...

The paper is but a shell of its former self. I'm surprised that it still has some centrist perspective.

5. Excellent. Constructive vandalism
That reminds me of the first time I saw a stop sign with "war" under it. I thought it was genius. Around 1970.
