So, it really is curtains
for the Southern strategy. Hello to folks in all fifty -- let's give 'em hell! :hi: :toast: :grouphug:

1. For our Southern State hopes? I think we still have a tiny outside chance in Georgia.

7. Amen to that!!!
It's become an almost literal hostage hold. I think the South has already had PLENTY of attention paid to it. More than enough, imho. The South has had its turn, in every election cycle for - what? The past 30-some years??? With all due respect, sincerely, to my DU brothers and sisters below the Mason-Dixon line: Please. ENOUGH.

3. I live in Alabama, and it can be won over.
No one likes the republicans and they are saying they are willing to swap over and vote for Obama this time. Some long time republicans are saying that.

13. The Whole IS greater than the sum of its parts.
Old Gestaltist here; systems have emergent properties, nothing mystic about that.

It's one of the things that bugs me the most to hear from someone attacking Obama, "... the heavens will open and . . . ." The unrealistic-idealist-wearing-rose-colored-glasses is not what the Obama campaign is about. It's a known fact that interaction between indivdual things and subsystems withing an over-arching co-operative system produces events that some folks refer to as "miracles".

14. Deming or Juran?
As a passionate Deming devotee, I couldn't agree more. That said, even idealists (like moi) deserve their day.

18. I know of Deming, but only enough to make reference in my master's to his QA process as a model
for wholistic educational communities.

Deming-esque processes will be a part of where my professional environment is headed: education for Long-Term Care professionals at all levels, from the kitchen to the boardroom.

20. Demings method is a whole system ...
which will collapse if people try to pick and choose. You MUST be conversant in this and take a stand. Good luck with your Master's.

17. Todd and Tweety were saying earlier that Biden plays well in some
areas that are rural and boarder southern states.. etc

They used southern Indiana as one example.. also Virgina and North Carolina

This seems to be a rust belt strategy. PA should now be licked up for us. MI could lean repug if Romney is picked, so it comes back to Ohio... again....

21. NC will go for Obama/Biden...
Obama is polling within a couple of points of McCain and McCain cannot afford to spend $$ in NC to keep it in the Repub column.

23. If Obama would just buy himself a second home here in
Southern Illinois, he could claim he was sort-of from the south and still be an Illinoisan. ;)

Property is sure cheaper here than in Chicago.

24. I feel that Va. will come through--maybe Ga. and NC
Reagan took the South from us and they had plotted for years. If we gain Virginia, we've made some real in-roads. Montana and a Dakota would be nice.

25. Doesn't it depend...
on whether we win the game?

I understand the concept, but I definitely think that a solid Northeast ticket is a loser. I think in this case, it's Obama who brings the "balance" - no one can call a guy from Hawaii a "Northerner"! :-)
