I can only think it is because it will be a dramatic pick -- perhaps Gore or Clark or Clinton or ??.

3. Just hope you're right....
Biden would certainly seem like a big fat let down after all this....

Obama has done everything right so far.... makes no sense for him to drum up all this drama over Biden.

Sigh.

It's looking more and more like 269 - 269 at best.

16. Relax, it's just a VP pick....
...and it hasn't mattered since 1960, the last time a VP pick made an actual difference.

It wasn't the Eagleton fiasco that cooked McGovern's goose. Quayle didn't cost Bush père the election.

Biden would be a perfectly serviceable stand-in President, as a long-serving senator, if the unthinkable happens. Beyond that, you are looking to tie up a few more news cycles and have someone to campaign in small markets and safe states.

There are fifty people who'd do the job, who'd make a fine VP. None of them are going to deliver an election, or cost you one.

Relax, and enjoy the access whores of the press get their chains jerked on like dogs that don't know how to heel.

17. I agree that it would seem like a let down
I like Biden and of the choices that were most talked about, he would probably be my third choice (behind Clinton and Clark). But Biden just doesn't scream excitement to me. Plus, it's been known for weeks that Biden was the frontrunner.

18. There are quite a few 269-269 scenarios...
In fact I built a Flash election scenario calculator that shows 5 different tie scenarios:

http://www.zbob.net/yeswecan/USAVote.html

There are probably even more. A tie is definitely a possibilty. Then it would go to congress I believe. That would be some great drama as well!

8. look at the media, that's where you should aim your frustration at.
the media is a lazy pack of howler monkeys that sat on their collective asses and in Biden's hedges all day. The media runs in a pack and Obama played and punked them well.

22. I think you could be right -- a dramatic pick could be in the cards --
or Obama's team is demonstrating to the press that THIS is how campaigns are run, that THIS is how secrets are kept, and that the craven media will not be able to manipulate the Obama campaign as adversaries the way they treated Gore and Kerry.

This appears to be the most controlled campaign team since the Kennedys in the 60s.

These guys are brilliant and I can only assume this long dramatic leadup might mean a big dramatic pick. I won't be disappointed if its' Biden -- he would be great, but it does seem like there might be a bigger name coming up. We will know soon.

It would be almost funny if Biden was actually the pick. After one week of cat and mouse game and the media saying its most likely Biden, then you are going to prove them right?

aflutter because they're accustomed to getting leaks left and right.

The Obama team isn't leaking anything, including whether it's Biden or not.

42. Biden's been a speculative veep choice since at least January on
many blogs, including this one.

I'm talking about the original announcement from the Obama campaign that has not been leaked.

There are no outlets I've seen anywhere claiming a source for Biden. The language is couched in coy phrases such as, "Vigorous speculation surrounds Sens. Biden and Bayh, and Govs. Kaine and Sebelius and Richardson" etc.

The New York POST called Kerry's 04 veep pick for Gephardt and ran the edition. Turns out, it wasn't Gep at all.
