Election 2008: Indiana Presidential Election

Indiana: McCain Holds Modest Advantage over Obama

Friday, August 22, 2008

<snip>

The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of voters in the state shows McCain attracting 46% of the vote while Obama earns 42%. When “leaners” are included, it's McCain by six, 49% to 43%. Leaners are survey participants who initially indicate no preference for either major candidate but indicate that they are leaning towards either McCain or Obama.

3. That is seriously in play.
Losing Indiana would really fuck up McCain's map. At the very least he is going to have to spend more than the 50 cents he had originally budgeted for the Hoosier state.

4. I would love to see Indiana go blue
For years voting has seemed to be for fun only coz it doesn't count since they give all electorals to one person. It feels good to think that other than voting machine fraud, cage list and dirty republican shenanigans, my vote might actually be heard.

5. All the more reason
I think we should cut resources from a state like Georgia and increase them even further in Indiana.

6. McCain has to defend too many states.
NC, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Nevada and a bunch of other Western states, plus maybe a few others like MO and Georgia.

And he won't have nearly as much $$$ to do it vs. Obabma's expected big budget.

7. Being a resident of Indiana (unfortunately)
I've been plesantly surprised and impressed by Obama's efforts here in Indiana, as well as the fact that a DEMOCRAT is competitive in this state. On a larger note regarding Obama's campaign, I credit Dean's 50-state strategy for starting to make inroads in previously ignored/neglected areas. Just because we haven't won certain states for a long time doesn't mean we should simply cede them to the GOP IMHO. We need to make them fight for EVERY state and every vote in every race IMHO!
