What Obama should give to people to get people to like gov't

Ok, maybe we've had too many years of GOP gov't bashing to actually get them to "like" gov't, but what benefits could Obama provide that would make people appreciate the Dems?

Long term I think health care is obvious. But what about free college education? Universal pre-K? Cutting the work week and increasing min wage?

I think the GOP has been winning because Dems have largely given up on providing benefits. Clinton even worked on cutting benefits!

2. Improving the delivery of social programs

Like SSDI, welfare. And making the health care reforms work efficiently. People are suspicious of bureaucracy and deservedly so. We have good programs for helping the disabled and poor but they are run brutally ineffectively and cause people to suffer in order to get relief. I think part of this is due to the many republican administrations and the willingness of some Democrats to get on the bandwagon of cutting services to people because it pleases their constituents. If we had commitment to helping the poor and disabled, we could improve the delivery of the programs we have. This goes for state government as well as the federal government.
