Group protests company that fired man for heckling Bush at a rally
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 01:43 PM by jackson
This is from the Frederick, Md., newspaper today at http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/display.htm?storyid=36661

FREDERICK -- Ted Jensen joined more than a dozen people Tuesday morning at a protest supporting a West Virginia graphic de-signer who recently was fired from his job in Frederick for shouting at President Bush last week.
"I'm not used to protesting," Mr. Jensen said with a smile. "I have to remember to put the sign up."
Mr. Jensen cautiously raised a large white poster board with multicolored stars and the words "Dissent Is Patriotic." It was among the more ornate signs the protesters toted as they stood on the sidewalk in front of Frederick Coffee Co. at 200 East St.
The protesters were expressing their support for Glen Hiller of Berkeley Springs, who was escorted from a rally in Hedgesville, W.Va., after trying to question Mr. Bush.
He said he was fired by Susan Hough, the owner of Octavo Design at 9 N. East St., because he had attended the rally with a ticket supplied by an Octavo client.

1. Per DU Rules....
...you're only supposed to post four paragraphs to such an article, and provide a link. What you did is a violation of copyright law.

If you still have time, you should edit your post.

3. This is why we can never win.
We're too afraid to fight back...

4. Fighting Back is One Thing
But you have to stay within the rules.

Free Republic alsmost got shut down because of copyright violations. Do you want to see the same thing happen to DU? I don't , and I don't think you do, either.

6. FREEP will NEVER be shut down.
And has never been in ANY danger of it.

Karl Rove laughs his ass off at this kind of self-imposed censorship.

8. Violating rules for the sake of it is ridiculous
It's not censorship when a link is provided. We're all fully capable of pointing and clicking. It's silly to rail against the establishment for no other reason than "it's the establishment." Some rules suck, and some are there for a very good reason. DU's rules are pretty fair, so let's not go comparing it to the White House.

7. Mind you...
I'm not attacking the DU rules.

I just want to underline the America we're living inside of today.

9. Underline away.
Note, though, that DU won't be able to do a damn bit of good if it gets shut down due to copyright violations.

And yes, this is the America we're living in. Deal.
