with the VP selection so close let's have a contest. Not sure what the winner will get other than bragging rights to say - I picked it right.

The contest is simple and similiar to those Baby Pools you might have had at the office

Pick the person you think will be Vice President AND the date and time the announcement will be made.

And since there is a chance of a tie - the tiebreaker will be what color tie will Obama be wearing when he announces it.

Maybe if we get enough enteries I'll see if I can get ahold of some Obama stuff to send to the winner, but not committing at that point.

Why. I heard somewhere that Obama hired one of Daschle's former speechwriters for his Veep choice. Daschle has been quietly vetted. He is also the mature DC type that Obama needs. He's a westerner and he's been an Obama loyalist since the beginning of the campeign. Obama likes him.

Biden has the foreign policy juice but I don't think Obama & Biden are a good tempermental fit--there's also the gaffe issue. Obama likes Kaine but he's too green and as we horse people say green on green makes black and blue. He also likes Richardson but poor Bill hasn't shown that he's improved his interview skills--besides the Clintons would freak. Seballius doesn't give Obama any foreign policy street cred. Evan Bayh just doesn't seem to have that excitement factor--and is opposed largely by the Netroots types. I'd love it to be Brian Schweitzer or Bob Graham but most likely it's not going to happen.

I think it's Daschle.
