What do you bet that the Obama campaign announces how many folks are on their text list. . .
. . .before the announce who the VP is via text.

Can you imagine this, the Obama campaign may literally be able to reach millions of folks with one text message. Who fucking needs to advertise when you can just send a text. TTFN

10. That's my favorite aspect to this!
It bypasses the Corporate peacocks and they have to sign up just like everyone else. It is brilliant, absolutely brilliant, imo.

4. LMAO!! Andrea Mitchell and David Gregory's Blackberry's are already
connected to Obama's Campaign for text message. McCain is waiting for Sitting Bull to send him smoke signals.

11. I, too, will be very sad if Clark isn't chosen, if not for the VP (my wish)
then for a key position in Obama's administration but I am trying to keep in mind the dignity with which Clark dealt with his withdrawal in 2004 and his subsequent whole-hearted, continuous effort to help get Kerry and Democratic candidates elected in hopes I can follow his lead again.

6. I know. This is so brilliant. And one of those ideas that's so
obvious you hit your forehead after hearing of it.

They will now control a huge number of cell phone numbers - the way more and more people, especially younger people - are reached now.

I can so imagine the texts and calls right before election day... GOTV taken to a whole new level.

(Just please... go ahead and text, but no robo-calls. I wanted to hunt Hillary down myself after I got the 3rd such call on my cell phone (I hadn't given it to them, either) on election day. Do her people think anyone believes that a canned recording is really the candidate calling?)

well that explains a lot...

in the great, immortal words of george walker bush, "fool me once, shame on- shame on you... fool me- can't get fooled again."

8. It is very clever, but it doesn't really work as advertising
People who haven't already made up their mind aren't signing up to receive texts from the campaign. It IS a way to strengthen the sense of involvement that supporters will have with the campaign, which will likely increase donations and volunteerism.

9. And GOTV, I think.
I think the advertising side comes in with the media buzz about the methods.
