What's everyones reaction if Obama picks Gore?
Gore would energize Democrats, bring back the anger of the 2000 election. Rally Democrats both Clinton and Obama supporters to right the wrong Gore received from Bush. Gore brings a wealth of experience to the office and Democrats love him. He's been the leader on climate change and would remind votes of the good economic times under a Clinton/Gore administration. But would Gore be willing to do it? He said he's happy with what he's doing but if Obama asks him would he say yes?

3. Uhh, losing control of bodily functions with joy.
I'm afraid I can't see Gore agreeing to it, though: VP is a thankless job, and he knows that as well as anyone.

4. Sheer elation. Then I would check myself into a mental institution...
... because it is a clear sign that I must be hallucinating.

Gore has said many times he wouldn't be VP again and I believe him.

6. Albert E. Gore is an alpha male dedicated to service - he will accept if asked, IMHO
Edited on Mon Aug-18-08 01:27 PM by Cronus Protagonist
Vice President Gore has said he would only run for president, if he were to run again, but I think he would accept the VP nomination if Obama asked and the nation called him to do so.

I'd be perfectly happy with that pick, but I'll eat my hat if it happens. Gore isn't going to be VP.

8. I Would Be Ecstatic

It would be a pick with massive potential and almost no risk. Colorado in the bag, and maybe assistance in OH and VA too.

I have no idea why Gore would say no if Obama asked him.

9. I like Gore, but worry about his demeanor and mannerisms.
Example - the sighing and rolling of eyes in the debates - even though they were well-deserved, they didn't go over well. I think he would not being in the white working class vote that it appears Obama needs to improve in.

11. Confusion
That would be my reaction. Frankly I would have a hard time seeing him as the bottom side of that ticket. Why would he give up the work he is doing to play second fiddle to someone else's policy decisions?

13. My reaction is "LANDSLIDE"
And I wouldn't be talking about a Fleetwood Mac song.

That said, I don't see the guy who was elected to #1 (but had it stolen from him) going back to #2. Al Gore would certainly know better than anyone what he could or could not do from the office of VP, and how that would apply to his mission to save the planet.

14. Pleased and somewhat surprised
Pleased because I think Gore would be awesome on the stump, he has been right about everything and he knows how the game is played and could be a hell of an attack dog. Gives gravitas, international reputation, etc. etc. Of course, if VP, he would bring all sorts of gifts to the office and would make the administration better.

I see a lot of people sure it won't happen because it would be a bad job for Gore. I don't see that. He's a grownup and can make his own decisions and set his own priorities. He doesn't make everything all about his own glory. If he thinks he would be the difference between Obama winning and Obama losing, I expect he'd do it. Of course, if that was the discussion, Obama would have to make it pretty clear that Gore would be doing a lot more than attending funerals and they'd have to negotiate it. Bottom line, if he can get Obama elected this way, it will make much more difference to the world than if he can sell more windfarms.

I don't have a problem with Gore, but if Obama picks him monkeys will fly out of my ass. And that will hurt.
