Andrew Sullivan picks up Cross-gate
http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/08/mccains-cross-i.html

I've now heard it countless times. McCain has used what appears to be an intensely personal moment in a prison camp as a reason to vote for him in a campaign ad. As he tells it today, it was the pivotal moment in his struggle to survive in the Hanoi Hilton. And yet, in his first thorough account of his time in captivity, in 1973, the story is absent. The story is also hauntingly like that recounted by Solzhenitsen, as told in Luke Veronis, "The Sign of the Cross":

Let's hope others start to pick this up as well...

1. Someone Else Pointed Out A Scene In Ben Hur
But then didn't Gramps memorize the Pittsburgh Steeler's front line...despite the fact they didn't play together until the 70s's (maybe he's Clairvoyant) or was a big fan of Abba in the 60's, despite the group not relasing their first American single, Waterloo (how appropriate) in Summer '74.

It's bad enough Gramps milks his POW captivity, but his bullshit needs to be not just called out, but ridiculed.

2. Old People mix up reality and stories they have heard. Regan once told a story that turned out to be
from a movie

Being a repug for decades must cause a mental breakdown. Unless it takes a mental breakdown to be a repug for decades

3. Old or young, when you put it a book and call it your own....
it is plagiarism. Reminiscing with family and friends, telling a story that isn't real is one thing, what McCain seems to have done is another.

6. Didn't McSame get in trouble for another of his POW stories?
One he tell is about when his captors demanded the names of other servicemembers, and he gave them the names of star football players. Only in his book he said players on the Packers, but when he was campaigning in PA, he told the story with his naming players on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Makes you wonder just how much of his POW tales are simply made up from whole cloth.
