Edwards Affair - Another target of the GOP Slime Machine: Meet A.P. Reporter David Scott & Crew
They reallly have no new moves at all...Clinton all over again.

Note this post is NOT about the Edwards affair, good - bad - or indifferent. It is just a reminder of the blatant propaganda machine/

I read this article on Yahoo - entitled: Is John Edwards' former aide covering for him?

It began this way:

'For nearly a decade, Andrew Young was John Edwards' loyal foot soldier as Edwards rocketed from millionaire trial lawyer to U.S. senator to two-time White House hopeful.'

And, I thought to myself. WTF? First, why is this article even being written? Edwards isn't running for anything and it has outrun the news cycle. The answer is to keep the news off John McCain from whatever weird political anomaly he is now engaging in...AND...it is to keep the public's attention ON a democrat by constantly bringing the topic back to what they are always reduced to - smears and sensationalism - Edwards is such a perfect foil. Who cares that John McCain can't thread a coherent sentence together and thinks Nuking Iran should be a Beach Boy's song? MILLIONAIRE TRIAL LAWYER EDWARDS had an affair!(several more references to wealthy tral lawyers as the article continues)....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080815/ap_on_re_us/edwards_loyal_aide

So, I looked at the source and GASP, it was the AP & written by David Scott.

So, I thought I would do a little google. It seems Mr. Scott is assigned by the GOP smear machine the job of promoting Democrat sex scandals. Here is another headline from a story he wrote:

ABCNews.com: New Kwame Kilpatrick Text Messages, Still No Party Label:

The article begins:

'More steamy text messages sent between (a democrat, my insert) Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff reveal intimate details about their relationship, and further indicate the mayor played a part in the dismissal of a police officer whose lawsuit brought their affair to light.'

This article was posted & the following comment is from Ken Shepard blasting this GOP slime tactic - (and pretty rich coming from the party of Gross Old Perverts...)

Four, count them, four ABCNews.com reporters hacked out a three-page April 30 article for the alphabet network's Web site that dealt with new steamy text messages between Democratic Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his then-chief-of-staff Christine Beatty. Kilpatrick, indicted on twelve criminal counts including perjury and obstruction of justice, could see time in prison thanks to these text messages which would prove he lied under oath about his affair with Beatty.

And, there it is in sum...Perjury and obstruction of justice due to a democratic affair and discovered...

And, it works so well.

There playbook is so simple. The lowest common denominator.

1. And with Edwards you have the added bonus of eliminating a corporate foe and taking the issues
of poverty and healthcare "off the table". It is lierally a "trifecta" of destruction and has little to do with a guy cheating on his wife.

2. When you mix your own vat of slime
you'll probably get smeared with it.

3. The less Dems brings this up, the better for the Democratic Party!
Why the need to regurgitate this over and over. Enough Already!

4. As distasteful as it may be
The reality is, every time a Republican goes after Edward's adultery as evidence of immorality and untrustworthiness and calls him a slimeball, it is another opportunity to bring up John McCain's adultery. Hell even Alan Colmes figured that out. So while I still like John Edwards and his personal life is none of my business, at this point I hope the republicans keep talking adultery every chance they get.
