his campaign planted that bogus story in the NYTimes about him being offered the rank of Admiral with him supposedly turning it down.

By all accounts from McCain and those who knew him at the time, he was NOT EVER OFFERED ADMIRAL.

John McCain left the service because he would go no further due to his philandering and unseemly conduct as an officer.

Like Junior, his quest for Presidency has to do with deep-seated feelings of inadequacy. He never measured up to his father and grandfather.

John Sidney McCain the THIRD.

How the NYTimes planted a bogus story on its front page about McCain's supposedly being offered Admiral:

3. McCain had an affair and is still a viable presidential candidate

4. But his service record is closed & false stories about his being offered Admiral were circulated
by his own campaign.

On the front page of the NYTimes

5. "Viable?" I'm far from certain he's even going to make it through the campaign . . .
Without keeling over. Four years in the presidency at a time that will put more stress on the White House than we've seen in recent memory?

Not so "viable," IMO.

7. However...
the people that wouldn't vote for him because of an affair, don't even know about it. Apparently it's not newsworthy anymore.

Of course, it doesn't really matter since that whole family values/morals voting block seem to be rather selective in whom their morality can be applied.

6. The star on his campaign logo is a sham.
It suggests flag rank that he never earned. But for a Vietnamese SAM, he probably would have been passed over for commander and retired without ceremony and a foot in the door to politics and a beverage heiress.

8. McShame is not a chip off the old block with both his grandfather and father being
distinguished four-star admirals. In my fifteens years in the Navy and the naval reserves, by far the most impressive person I ever saw/heard was his father who held a full auditorium spellbound for the entire time during an hour talk. :D
