Obama Campaign re: New McCain ad: "This ad is a lie.
"This ad is a lie, and it's part of the old, tired politics of a party in Washington that has run out of ideas and run out of steam. Even though a host of independent, nonpartisan organizations have said this attack isn't true, Senator McCain continues to lie about Senator Obama's plan to give 95% of all families a tax cut of $1,000, and not raise taxes for those making under $250,000 a single dime. The reason so many families are hurting today is because we've had eight years of failed Bush policies that Senator McCain wants to continue for another four, and that's what Barack Obama will change as President."

3. Second time they've done that.
Good. Using the L-word this early in the campaign means that they won't be the least bit hesitant to call Team Grouchy liars as we get into the GE campaign.

They're going to have to do that - because Team Grouchy are, umm, liars.

4. Wow thats twice now that Obama or his campaign has called mcsame a liar
Nice to see they arent dancing around it. If Kerry had been willing to call bush a liar we might have won last time.

7. I agree- now we get to see if they take the bait.
I always wondered what it would look to see a Republican explaining how he is not a "liar"- and I always wondered why Kerry never forced Bush into that position myself.

Maybe I'll finally get to see it.

6. WOW! So DEMS are finally going to use plain old fashioned language- great news.
I'm glad that we are saying McCain "lied" rather than "mispoke" or some other wishy-washy crap.

Good to see we are using plain, everyday, but pointed terms.

Now we get to see if the GOP/media takes the bait on whether they are "liars" or not.

9. Adlai Stevenson had some sage advice
I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. - Adlai Stevenson

10. Where is the media outrage?!?!?!
During the 2000 election, the media chanted the meme that Gore was a "serial exaggerator" -- a claim that was itself based on lies, such as the one saying Gore claimed to have invented the Internet. They could hardly utter Gore's name without identifying him with some derisive remark about his supposedly truth deficit.

Yet in this election, McCain has given the media boatloads more campaign lies, misstatements, and mischaracterizations, yet the media skate all around it without barely a mention.

It's appalling how the news media in this country have morphed into a heard of sheep, especially when a junkyard dog is needed to do some serious truth-squad work of yet another Rovian GOP presidential campaign.

12. It's up to Democrats to say it front of cameras & microphones.
Its looong past the time for us to expect the media to repeat our talking points for us.
