2. If he's as smart as people say he is...
he'll pick Clinton. That's an unbeatable ticket.

5. That would be an unbeatable ticket, but not the only unbeatable ticket.
Clark or Biden would be unbeatable on the ticket, as well.

... but Obama is an adult, and he'll try to placate her with shiny objects and a toy.

6. You would think that would be the end of it
Oddly enough, it's some of the winning candidate's supporters here that can't get out of fight mode.

7. Maybe if you'd stop worrying about the Democrats supporting the ticket ...
... and start worrying about the ones that aren't supporting the ticket, your life would be much better. You post that same line every day, 50 times a day, maligning not the renegades, not the faux Democrats who are supporting McCain, but those real Democrats who find the actions of the PUMAs despicable.

But you go on and on and on, always complaining about the people who are actually real live voting, committed Democrats. It's abundantly clear that your priority is complaining about the party and its voters who are offended by turncoats.

10. the media is not at fault, but Bill and Hill are
Bill went out of his way to be a pest. He contrived those lines in his mind long before anyone showed up to interview him, and he delivered them like the slippery eel he is.

Hillary put out her "I'm gonna get what I want at the convention" story at the same time. They are remorseless egocentrics who will destroy the party AGAIN if they have their way.

11. I know you love to hate them.
But, really you should take what the media says with a grain of salt. The clip they aired of Hillary Clinton was a snippet likely taken out of context and distorted.

Of course you are willing to assume the media does that when airing something about Obama--give Clinton the same objective view.

I find your deep hatred rather disturbing. Perhaps you could look at all of the good the Clintons have done for America rather than focus on the distorted, fantasy caricatures you have created.

12. 25 years of dealing with the Clintons and their impact on the party ...
Edited on Thu Aug-07-08 08:49 AM by TexasObserver
Unlike you, I'm not delusional about them. They have always been for the Clintons and nothing else. They used the party and left it in shambles. They were unhelpful in 2000 and 2004.

I supported Bill for president and defended him zealously until this year, so your attempt to cast me as a long time Clinton hater is wishful thinking on your part.

He's very bright, but she's your run of the mill overachiever who latched onto someone who could take her places.

I've been helping Democrats get elected for nearly 40 years, and I can tell you that most good Democrats of longstanding cannot stomach the Clintons because they are so ruthlessly self serving.

15. I wasn't originally a Bill Clinton supporter in '92
but damnit, I voted for him twice, campaigned for him twice. Defended him endlessly during the impeachment...

and this year he's made me regret all of that except the part where I didn't support him during the '92 primaries.

16. I think the 18 million "good Dems"
that voted for Clinton would take offense of your hatred for Clintons. Your hatred is clearly in the minority of Democratic voters.

13. Hatred, anger, and disappointment
are all different reactions, even tough they often can be expressed in very similar ways.

I have to say as much as I appreciate the contributions made by the Clinton's that I am at least equally disappointed in them this election cycle and the motivations are purely self centered.

My moods are wildly swinging at times wanting Clinton on the ticket, other times wanting her run out of the party on a rail, to wanting her to be the majority leader.
Equally positive and poisonous. Assets and anchors.

This juncture in history is clearly too important for games and spite. I'm also at the point where I'd like to see the DLC dissolved, the infighting needs to cease because it's hurting the party and the nation. At minimum, Hillary needs to strongly repudiate the rabble.

14. I guess you nailed the problem I have with this whole discussion
"purely self centered" motives. For some reason America (republicans and democrats alike) demand more of the Clintons than anyone else. I would argue that everyone running for President ran for purely self centered motives. Everyone one of them attacked their opponents on their weaknesses. And yet, only the Clintons are held to the standard that they must be unselfish and saintly in their goals.

I don't get the double standard.

17. Thank you for those good thoughts.
The reason so many Democrats are so upset is because we have carried Bill's water for 16 years. We have been the ones who defended him. Now he's being ungracious and hurtful to our party, the one we had before he showed up, and the one we've tried to put back together after he left it in shambles.
