Breaking news from Fox/McCain/Bush:
Barak Obama is BLACK!! (He's the Blackest person running for President)
And he's *gasp, gasp* liberal! (He's the most liberal member of the Senate)
And Barak Obama is a man (He's the most man running for President)
And he's *gasp, gasp, gasp* ambitious - yeah, he be one a'dem uppity black boys an' he ain' runnin' after massa's seat
And Barak Obama gives a good speech - he's the best speaker in American politics
:sarcasm:
I can't do any more. But maybe Obama should start a speech or two with lines like: According to Fake News, I have the most liberal voting record in the Senate. I guess that's code for, Obama's the Democratic nominee for President, because four years ago, John Kerry had the most liberal voting record. And when Bill Clinton ran the first time, he had the most liberal voting record. But as we all know, Fake News doesn't speak the same language as most Americans. I want to thank them, though. I don't know how that's measured - it seems to me Ted Kennedy, for instance, has a pretty good record as a liberal. But they make it sound like it's a bad thing to be liberal - as if it's a bad thing to care about the nation's poor, because that's what a liberal does. As if it's a bad thing to have a government people can trust, a government that doesn't lie, that doesn't torture, that doesn't start wars to line the pockets of corrupt and greedy businesses - because that's what a liberal works for. As if it's a bad thing to make sure that a mega-corporation's profit is an honest profit, that corporate greed and fraud aren't rewarded by corrupt influence peddlers, in or out of office - because that's what a liberal demands. As if the motto "out of many, one" is just some ideal - because that's what a liberal believes, only that we believe that it's a just ideal, that a social conscience and individual responsibility aren't mutually contradictory, they're necessarily interdependent.
More to come...
