Have Funny Feeling They'll Lower the Bar for McCain in Debates
Edited on Sat Aug-02-08 09:52 PM by DemocracyInaction
With all the spin about "Obama the pretty speech maker" and "Obama the Rock Star", I'm afraid we are being set up for another "lowered expectations" during the debate like they set it up for Bush. Are we going to hear that if McCain can stay on stage and not piss his "Depends", he's WON the debate?? I really have a funny feeling that this is exactly what the spin is going to be. Gee, poor, old hero survives the "arrogant" black guy! One way or the other, they are not going to let McCain get rolled over.

1. Yep--they'll say, if Obama doesn't score a KO punch, McCain wins!!
You know it's coming.

5. Of course they will.
If the current state of coverage by the M$M is any indication, the 'bar' has already been relocated to the basement.

6. Or the Bush "take charge and interrupt" when you can't make your point
Like during the debates with Kerry

I couldn't believe the moderator let that shit fly, but because he was the president it makes it kind of difficult to say "Sit down and shut up Mr. President - its not your turn"

8. P.S. to my post
I imagine the "set up" to the debates will go something like: Announcer: "It is not enough for Obama to simply debate to a draw this evening. McCain is the "known" and Obama the "unknown". If he cannot 'seal the deal' with the American people by decisively winning this evening, then McCain has held his own against the challenge and will be tonight's winner". And now to Charlie and George who are going to cut the nuts off the "boy" and feed them to him on live TV.

10. Anyone who's depending on the debates to put Obama over the top is an idiot
Kerry and Gore both won each debate handily when it came to reason and thought.

They were spun so brutally that one can hardly believe it. The right wing even relishes that their guys can't debate, but they control the media perception of the debate, so it doesn't matter who "wins."

The debates are losers for Dems. You win on the trail, or not at all.
