That phrase struck me. Imagine having a president literate enough to casually toss-off a reference like that without needing a writer to dredge it up for him. Not that it is THAT brilliant; that's just how low the bar has fallen, that it seemed impressive to me. If Obama messes up royally, it will be worth voting for him just to be able to listen to a president whose every utterance isn't an embarrasment.

I have a friend who is an airspace coordinator for the Forest Service. Bush recently met her at the CA fires, shook her hand and said: "Thanks fer all the...er, uh...coordinatin'."

we must have some pretty low standards if it's a big deal for a grown man (or woman) to be able to reference Greek Mythology from time to time.

Obama and his team know EXACTLY what they are doing. They know how to assess risks and benefits, and I think we can also rest assured that the "presumptuousness" of the trip will be over in a week. As Obama said, people will have in the back of their mind that he is more than capable on foreign policy.
