10 Minutes in McCain's Stall
I'd like to ask your help in clearing away some of the b.s. that forms the basis of John McCain's candidacy. As pretty much everyone here knows, McCain's candidacy is built on a web of systematic distortion and deceit, woven over many years with the help of a fawning, all-too complicit mainstream media. What scares the hell out of me, though, is that millions of American voters don't know that much of what they've been sold regarding John McCain is b.s.

Will you help do something about that? It'll cost you about 10 minutes.

I've spent the last month or so working up http://mccainbs.com/bs/index.html">a single, concise web page (with appropriate ancillary materials) that digs into the b.s. foundations (i.e., "maverick," "straight talker," etc.) on which McCain's candidacy rests. While keeping things as brief and digestible as possible, I've tried to embed lots of links to the highest quality, most credible source material available online.

I'm also featuring prominently and promoting the three currently popular books dealing with McCain's b.s. Authors Matt Welch, David Brock, Paul Waldman and Cliff Schecter have the goods on McCain; I hope their books reach the widest audience possible -- ASAP -- and that the authors start showing up far more regularly on MSNBC, CNN, etc.

Please look over http://mccainbs.com/bs/index.html">the page -- the URL of which is http://mccainbs.com/bs/index.html">http://mccainbs.com/bs/index.html If you think it's a useful antidote to some of McCain's b.s., please email a link to those you know who might be receptive -- particularly those who are not rabidly political. As always, it will be those who are only lukewarm about politics -- the "undecideds" -- who will decide the election. Ask those whom you email to forward the link to people they think might be receptive.

If you post websites, please consider posting a link or links to the page.

I've just devoted the better part of a month to mucking out McCain's stall. May I now ask you to invest 10 minutes of your time wielding a proverbial pitchfork?

I posted this this a.m. (from progressiveaccountability), but the more facts that are available to us out there, the better:

3. Thank You
That looks like a terrific site.

I've been an intermittent DU poster for four or five years I guess, but haven't had much to say lately due to time constraints.

6. You're most welcome.
It was a form of therapy. A few weeks ago it got to the point at which I just couldn't handle any more of the superficial idiocy that passes for "news" -- even at nominally progressive venues such as MSNBC. I had to turn off the drivel and leave it off.

Seemed to me that if I had the sense of being buried alive in b.s., the only sane thing to do was grab a pitchfork and get to work.

7. McShame
Great Site! McShame is a disgrace to our electoral process. He should be laughed off the ticket but instead he is given passes over and over. This site is a very good concise list of his fopahs. He shouldn't be a senator anymore, much less a presidential candidate. Thanks for the work you've done.

And welcome to DU.

Yes, McCain's an idjit. The fact that a troglodyte sleaze such as he has a legitimate shot at the presidency is so pathetically ludicrous and sick that it hurts.

I remember how in 1979 and 1980 my friends and I made lots of snide comments about hoping the Republicans would be dumb enough to nominate Ronald Reagan. Jimmy Carter would obviously crush someone as mentally deficient as Reagan. As I recall, however, that one didn't pan out so well.

And I remember the same phenomenon in 1999 and 2000: Wouldn't it be great if the GOP turns out to be so idiotic as to nominate God's own dipshit, GWB. Gore will mop the floor with that imbecilic Texas whore! But well, you know.

Now comes another brain-dead Repiglican oaf to his dopey party's trough and ...

... I'm sufficiently motivated to do whatever I humanly can to see that the current GOP doorknob does not prevail.

13. Problem With Your Browser?
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 06:37 AM by the48er
It's highly probable that something's seriously wrong with your browser.

Those pages and their CSS are constantly validated to some of the W3C's most exacting standards. And I check and recheck and recheck those pages at multiple resolutions in recent releases of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. To the best of my knowledge the pages and their images look good and work fine in all of them.

But thanks for the terrific link.
