Bush supporters vandalized my car!
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 05:29 PM by fujiyama
This morning my parents found a "sportsmen for Bush" on my car.

This shit pisses me off. The fact that someone would touch my property in the first place is what gets me so angry. The right really respects property rights don't they - stupid fuckers.

The car didn't have a Kerry sticker (this is not mine but my parents...My sister had taken my own car which has a sticker). Still, I'm very unhappy about this.

1. If I caught somebody doing that in the act...
I would beat them up. I would come up to them and kick the crap out of them. I consider an attack on my property to be an act of violence against me.

3. Having trouble equating a sticker with "vandalizing"
and "attacking property". Sure, whoever did it is a jerk, but are you telling me you've never wanted to sneak something covertly anti-republican onto an obviously repub-owned vehicle? It's nothing more than a prank. and I think you both are getting your BP worked way up over a minor thing. Just take the bloody sticker off and move on.

9. It's still vandalism
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 05:53 PM by fujiyama
Touching my property is a form of vandalism. They had no right to touch my vehicle. I've condemned such acts by others on this site as well...I don't care who's doing this sort of thing. It just isn't right to invade others personal property.

My parents tore the sticker off and I tossed it. It must have been at my friend's house last night. I'm going to call my friend and ask him if there were more near his house. His house has a big Kerry sticker on his window but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with this.

25. Look, no argument there
While "touching" your property isn't vandalism, the sticker is, technically. All I'm saying is, the level of outrage is a bit much. No harm was done. Vandalism usually implies some damage that costs you money or effort to repair, and neither was apparently involved here.

I wouldn't want that done to my car either, but if it did happen I wouldn't make a big issue out of here at DU. Now the person who had a rock through their window, that's something to get upset about. Perspective, is all I'm saying.

27. You're right
It's not the same thing as the rock through the window. Maybe vandalism isn't quite the word I was looking for and the title of te thread was a bit exagerrated.

I think it just shows desperation on their part. The RWers are so pathetic that they can't actually get anyone to put their stickers on their car.

4. I got a rock through my house window
within a few days of putting my Kerry bumper sticker on our cars.

The cop that took the report said, "Yup, that's probably why they did it." I talked to another arrogant (white) SOB cop a week or so ago and told him this and he said, "Why would they do that if you have a Kerry sticker on your car?" I said, "Because Bush's supporters are a bunch of crazy bastards, that's why." He got a really pissed off look on his face. Fuck him! Our city council person lives around the corner from me. He'll be peddling a bike downtown real quick if he starts that kind of attitude around here!

Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 06:12 PM by Gman
These people don't realize that here in Texas liberals like to play with guns too! When I told the cop that I intend to shoot and wound someone if I catch them doing it again, he didn't like it but had to agree that in Texas it is 100% legal to protect your property up to and including deadly force. I would never ever shoot to kill under any circumstances I can imagine. But he'll sure be laying on the ground holding his legs and/or knees.

16. You need to tell your local Dem party
about any vandalism and the like. One report won't make the paper. A list of ten people who have had problems given to a reporter from your local party president is likely to be a story in the paper the next day.

8. Totally uncalled for
This is the reason I got so upset when I thought that this sort of thing was being considered by posters. Luckily, it turned out they were joking. When people are disrespecting eachother's property, things have gone too far.

I would keep a video camera handy. I might even leave it rolling in the back window while I was away.

14. Actually...
if someone put a Bush sticker on my car, I'd probably just leave it and write, 'AWOL' or draw jail bars across it with a permanent marker. Now if they touch my 'John Kerry for President' or 'Kerry/Edwards' stickers, especially the latter since I don't have another one at my disposal, there will be hell to pay. I'll simply open the door and let my Chow Chow take care of them, since no one can get within 25 feet of the house without her going ballistic.

17. That's an NRA sticker
The NRA doesn't like to admit that they only represent about 10% of sportspersons who own guns. They'd rather try to fool people into believing that all gun owners support lunatics.

18. As childish as it is,
putting a bumper sticker on your car hardly rises to the level of vandalism. Besides, there have been some pretty gleeful discussions here on DU about doing similar things to Bush supporters.

If someone puts an unwanted bumper sticker on your car, just take it off. If someone defaces a bumper sticker or a yard sign, replace it. Real vandalism, like keying your car door, or throwing a rock through your window is different, and needs to be aggressively dealt with.

Lots of idiots out there.

20. That's true
that this isn't "real" vandalism in the same sense as actually damaging property, but it still shows a lot of immaturity. It also shows a lack of respect for others' property.

I think this really shows how desperate and pathetic these fools are. The fact that they have to put these stickers on cars without the owners' permission shows that they can't get enough people to actually want to their stickers on their cars.

21. Infuriating I know
also very infantile, you're lucky though that they weren't 'brave' enough to key the car or do something else that would be costly to repair. I don't mean to minimize it because it does a 'number' on you when something like that happens. It makes you less feel less secure and you always wonder if next time it will be worse, it's almost a form of psychological terrorism (though I hate to use the 'terriorism' term). :-(

22. These are all some bad stories
But I think a bumper sticker is quite preferable as a form of vandalism than what they could have done...like scratched *'s name into your car doors or something.

I live in the Bay State...no worries about getting attacked for being a Kerry supporter. I've only got a sticker on the back of my car, and I'm planning to get a sign ASAP.

One of the two signs was just trashed this evening by drunk punks walking up the street. (It survived less than 24 hours.)

29. This makes me fortunate that my Kerry sign has not been stolen.
It will have been one month tomorrow since I got my Kerry sign, and nothing has happened to it yet.

Of course, most people in West Michigan are nice, though conservative.
