How do Non-Americans DONATE to the Obama Campaign?
I'm Canadian but the Obama site appears to only accept donations from Americans. Is it possible for the international community to financially donate, reliably, to the Obama campaign in some way?

Thanks

1. You can't donate directly to his campaign.. only to groups such as MoveOn...

...etc., that are supporting him.

3. In a word, DON'T.
We appreciate the support, but it's illegal. Clinton got into hot water due to
a suspected funneling of Asian money into his campaign. Bush probably got plenty
of Saudi money via Daddy and the Carlyle Group, but we have to stay clean.

Thanks for the sentiment, though.

We appreciate your support of Obama however, Only American Citizens should be involved in an American election.

In addition American Citizens other than advice and volunteer poll watching should not be doing things in elections in other countries.

5. This non-American donated and legally too!
I found out something real neat and although I don't have a vote I now kind of have a voice. I'm a US permanent resident; British citizen. On Barack Obamas' donation page it says:

"1. I am a United States citizen or a lawfully-admitted permanent resident."

That's me!

So it would seem us Green Card holders can at the least donate to our desired future President/etc. (and yes I did, not a lot but something).

Mark.

6. Can't you buy a t-shirt or bumper sticker?
Would that be illegal?

7. I think they have the same disclosure
when you buy a T-shirt as when you donate actual money.

I mean no disrespect for people in other countries or their enthusiasm but I prefer elections to be local affairs. That goes for US citizens too butting their heads into other countries elections.

8. Good point Jake..

They can purchase merchandise, and the money will stay within the Obama Organization, but will be shuffled into something other than the '08 election funds/

You're right .. it's a win-win.

If you have any questions .. just e-mail their marketing people over at their main campain website and they'll give you the scoop.

If you talk to someone on the blog over there ~~ they'll fill you in.

13. You can convince US citizens living in Canada to vote for Obama
If you live near the US border, you can cross over and volunteer, canvass, phone bank, etc. But the campaign can not legally accept a financial contribution from you.

14. McCain did some fund raising in Canada
McCain did a fundraising trip in Canada and is evidently claiming that the funds went to cover expenses.

16. If the donor is American, it's ok
Candidates can hold fundraisers in foreign countries, but the donors must be US citizens. Several of the major candidates held fundraisers in the expat community in London, Paris, and Germany last year.

What I choose to do with the profit is my business... (if you catch my drift).
