McCain should go on a fact finding mission to Czechoslovakia
Since he was so big on Obama going to Iraq, condescending and sneering like he is some big-time foreign policy expert because he went and had a photo op in a Baghdad market while he was protected by Black Hawks, tanks and soldiers.

Maybe the vastly experienced, national security expert, Senator McCain will actually learn something when he gets to Czechoslovakia. Like it hasn't existed for fifteen years and he's been referring to the Czech Republic by it's old name. Maybe while he's at it he can lecture us on the Weimar Republic too.

7. honestly, I can't believe the ignorance of this guy
And the media's complicity. I'm a serious student of foreign policy, as I'm sure many people here are, and, if I heard somebody say that Shiites and Sunnis don't have a history of violence against each other, I couldn't take any thing they ever said about foreign policy seriously again. But McCain said that in the run up to Iraq. I couldn't believe it! And yet, he is still portrayed as some kind of national security expert. After being wrong time and time again. McCain couldn't pass a low level International Relations or foreign policy class using the opinions and ideas that he makes in his speeches and town halls etc.

McCain might be worse than Bush because people kind of have the idea that he might actually know something in the first place, especially on foreign affairs.

48. I'll take that

By the way among old Thai academics there is still a movement to return to "Siam" as "Thailand" was seen as a move by the far right government at the time to push the country into a more nationalist stateist mode (read: soft facism). Unfortunately too many years have passed to reverse it.

14. Greg Palast wrote in Armed Madhouse
That he was talking to some Republican businessman or somebody like that and the guy kept talking about Russian influence spreading. I can't remember the term that the guy was using but he kept using a Cold War term the Soviets used for expanding their sphere of influence. This was only a few years ago and Palast couldn't believe this guy was so obsessed with Cold War terminology that has been outdated for almost a few decades.

Here in AZ? Pretty interesting stuff. :) I think Napolitano would beat him if they went head to head for his senate seat in two years. He might retire before that would happen.

I LOVE IT!

I think it's fantastic that Obama's up on him here - and I wouldn't be surprised if Obama wins the state. It won't be a given, but I definitely think it's possible. Have you heard anything about an Obama office here? I've been checking the website and there's a lot of events here, he has strong support, but so far no info on an office. I'm anxious for it to open - I want to start taking the state away from McCain!

I haven't looked at any in awhile, but yeah, I'd like to see her beat him and then maybe Jim Pederson win the governorship.

I haven't seen anything about an office, I'll have to check that out. I'll let you know what I find.

33. Istanbul Was Constantinople

I used to like this song.

I also used to drink too much.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vsQrKZcYtqg

Istanbul Was Constantinople
Now It's Istanbul, Not Constantinople
Been A Long Time Gone, Oh Constantinople
Now It's Turkish Delight On A Moonlit Night

Every Gal In Constantinople
Lives In Istanbul, Not Constantinople
So If You Have A Date In Constantinople
She'll Be Waiting In Istanbul

Even Old New York Was Once New Amsterdam
Why They Changed It. I Can't Say
People Just Liked It Better That Way

So Take Me Back To Constantinople
No You Can't Go Back to Constantinople
Been A Long Time Gone In Constantinople
Why Did Constantinople Get The Works
That's Nobody's Business But The Turks

Its two seperate countries, for crying out loud. I could sort of understand the use of an old name for the same thing (even though it wouldn't be too smart when you want to come of as a foreign policy expert).
But it isn't even that.
