Another question about Ken Cordier
He is seen in the Swift Boat Vet commercials as a swift boat vet:

&e=15&ncid=708

But his Bio makes no mention of any Swift boat missions, just that he flew combat from 1965 and again in 1966 when he was captured until 1973:

http://www.okbar.org/news/cordierbio.pdf

Now if Kerry led Swift boats in Feb. 28, 1969, while Cordier was a POW, why is he being touted as a Swift Boat Vet?

1. Ummm because he's willing to smear Kerry publicly, despite having
no personal direct knowledge about anything?

Do I win a prize or something?

2. He was a POW
Saying Kerry's anti-war statements cause abuse by his captors.

4. That's the problem.
On that Yahoo page he's clearly stated as a Swift Boat Veteran.

3. Not new to the rodeo, but please explain: Air Force>Swiftboat?
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 02:20 PM by blondeatlast
I'm pretty ignorant about such things, but my dad was a WWII Air Force pilot, so I'm not new to the rodeo--what wa an AIR FORCE pilot doing in a BOAT?

7. What legal or other consequences will b/c and the liars face?
Between Cordier and the b/c campaign office in Gainsville.

8. This is a huge problem for me.
News groups are touting some of these individuals as Swift Boat Vets simply for the reason that they are in the commercials, and obviously there is very little fact checking going on.

If you can't trust Yahoo or Reuters to check on this, your average individual that watches these commercials will just take it as truth.

14. The caption is still wrong.
Yahoo! News - World Photos - Reuters (Aug 22 at 8:15 p.m. ET)--It looks as if they don't care if they've got the caption wrong. I wonder, since the photo is sourced to Swiftvets.Com, if the caption info is taken from there too?

"A frame grab shows Vietnam war-era Swift boat veteran Ken Cordier speaking during a television commercial over Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites)'s war record. Kerry asked the Federal Election Commission (news - web sites) August 20, 2004 to force Republican critics to withdraw the ads challenging his military service, and accused the Bush campaign of illegally helping coordinate the attacks. 13. I've Got A Question...
While you folks are doing a great job straightening out this distortion (and one that I feel wasn't an omission)...is to compile a list of all the known Freeperboat slimers (sorry, I have no respect for any veterans who are participating in this obvious smear campaign against the very democratic election system they claimed they were fighting for) and they're branch of service, years of service, where they served and their connection to the GOOP. Wanna bet we find very few who were anywhere near where Kerry was in 1969.
