I don't want to brag but Obama asked me to help write his platform
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 08:34 PM by Botany
I will try not to get too big of a head but I got an e-mail from the B-Man himself.
He even thanked me for all I do .... I wonder if when he was in Ohio he saw my
bumper sticker and copied my lic. plate # and had the secret service track me down?

:bounce:

BTW my is Tom.

Tom --

Every four years, the Democratic Party assembles a platform that outlines the party's position on a number of issues.

Traditionally, the drafting of the platform is not open to ordinary people.

This year, that's going to change.

For two weeks in July, people all across America will hold Platform Meetings in their own communities to discuss the issues and share their input. The outcome of these meetings will be reviewed by the Drafting Committee as it creates the final Platform.

No political experience is required. Your thoughts and experiences are all that matter, and they will shape a platform that -- like this party -- is owned by the people.

Sign up to host or attend a Platform Meeting in your neighborhood:

This year, ordinary people like you will gather in their homes, community centers, places of worship, and even coffee shops to discuss the issues that matter to them and help decide what should be at the heart of the Democratic platform for change.

The input we get from these meetings will help shape the platform at the Democratic Convention in August.

Platform Meetings are a great way to connect with fellow supporters and help write the next chapter in the history of the Democratic Party.

We'll make sure you have all the resources and support you need to succeed. All you need to provide are your ideas for America and your hunger for change.

To get started in your community, just log onto My.BarackObama.com and go to our Platform Meetings page. (If you don't have a My.BarackObama.com account, creating one is simple and easy.)

Sign up to host or attend a Platform Meeting now:

I hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to make your voice heard in the political process.

Thank you for all that you do,

Barack

4. Well as long as you are in Ohio ... than it is O.K.
The B-man not only gives good speeches but checks out bumper stickers and
then contacts the people and thanks them by e-mail .... he is the man!

6. I got one of those too, Tom. He may regret it because we're going to revisit
the 4th amendment at my platform party.

7. Good for you
Once again why do they need immunity if they were not breaking the law?

Bottom line the NSA did the spying as the DoJ was the muscle w/ U.S. Attorneys
as the "hit men."

BTW .... I am starting to think I wasn't the only one to get that e-mail

8. Were you a precinct captain or something? We had thousands in Houston
but people in smaller communities might not realize that. But, yes, I'm sure the email went out to alot of supporters.

12. Me too.
It wasn't a donation email, just a little button at the bottom for a donation. Required on any political email.

14. That's nothing. I just got mail telling me I might ALREADY BE A WINNER!
Plus, some Nigerian prince wants me to help him out. Can't say much now, but if things work out there might be a BIG donation in DU's future.

15. I got one saying that I "... may already be a weiner".
My favorite cartoon from National Lampoon, showing a hot dog standing at a mailbox reading his mail. (I presume hot dogs are all male.)

16. KNR!
A few years ago, I went through a thought experiment. I envisioned a political candidate who did their best to represent the People. This candidate would be a strong leader, with core values of honesty, integrity and respect for fellow humankind.

When they went to chart their political course, they would approach with a near blank slate and request the input of the People. They would build their positions based on the will of the People, weaving together, in a natural way seemingly divergent opinions. Acting more a Judge looking for the best or fair way to proceed, rather than starting with a stubborn ideology.

I envisioned someone who could win. And, someone who could focus on progress. I think Obama did the same thought experiment!
