We must not use McCain's incontinence against him.
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 09:49 AM by Warren Stupidity
Millions of adults, many of them elderly and suffering from chronic physical and mental illness, are also incontinent. Rumors of McCain's need to wear Adult Depends, are just that: rumors. No reliable sources have mentioned any odor problem or unseemly bulges. Nobody has come forward with purchase records or actual physical evidence. I am very concerned that DU not disgrace the Obama campaign by using this board to propagate this scurrilous rumor, unsubstantiated so far, that McCain suffers from incontinence. It would be wrong. I am confident that the McCain Campaign will address this issue and eliminate any more speculation on this matter. Lets try to keep this campaign out of the toilet.

8. Actually, while I am just fooling around, I completely disagree.
They are all set and ready for the attacks on the serious and legitimate issues, the off the wall attacks are what will off balance them and distract them and take them off of their game plan. By all means bring on the serious issues, but that does not preclude the sniping at the subconscious fears of the voting population regarding McCain's age, health, temper, mental stability, honesty, womanizing, moral hypocrisy etc. The point really is to have them trying to have to explain that Johnny doesn't need to wear diapers, or the equivalent. The point is to win.

11. I'm not sure if it's the topic or the timing that troubles me.
Meaning, I would agree that dirty, below the belt (see, I can do it too) attacks are not unfair, given the stakes, but:

One problem with the topic is that, at this moment, it may distract us from putting greater effort into exposing REALLY important policy and other issues.

Another problem is that if there's any truth to the matter and he's outed too soon, it may lose it's impact by the time we all vote.

And, finally, these things can backfire and we come of looking cheap. There's a large aging demographic out there that Obama hasn't quite cinched yet, folks that might sympathize with the wrong fellow.

12. The nice thing about the blogosphere is that it doesn't backfire
on Obama, it backfires on the nebulous blogbarians. I am certainly not suggesting that the Obama Campaign demand a diaper check. But I do think we should feel free to invent any crap about McCain our feeble brains can think up, and not worry so much about propriety. Nor have I noticed much lack of bandwidth here or elsewhere on the nets to deal with a multitude of issues, some lofty, others not so much.

McCain campaign theme: Don't Worry, Be Crappy.

7. I agree. This is not the kind of issue that should be raised in backdoor channels.
In fact, I think I'm going to write an email (complete with a mocked-up FW:FW history suggesting I am not the origin) informing everyone in my addressbook that this is not an issue.

17. I agree not a topic for rumors at all - I am not going to touch it at all

It does bring to mind another thing that really isn't a rumor its something that they admitted but I cannot remember it.
