Harold Ford is so Annoying. He's a Prick
Just saw him on MSNBC. He's such an asshole.

He says "Obama's new ad is powerful and good. But not all accurate"

What the hell is that suppose to mean? This is supposed to be a Democrat????

43. He's also in favor of the gas tax holiday
and a few weeks ago had the most absurd advice for Obama one could imagine. He cited the Democrat who won that Mississippi runoff election. The Dem was a cultural conservative, pro-life. Harold Ford Jr.'s advice to Obama and other Democrats was to become more culturally conservative to win more votes in the south. I think Harold has been pandering to Tennessee people a little bit too long.

10. And to think that our 4th amendment rights are traded for 10 House seats
Edited on Mon Jun-23-08 06:45 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
Ten Congressmen, I might add, who didn't bother to present any evidence they they stood to lose if FISA was an issue. They just asked Pelosi, and she went along....I don't even know who they are. Do you think that if we were about to lose our rights over 10 seats, we could at least know which congresscritters demanded it (other than Hoyer)?

Effectively, we are being sold down the river in an election year where we stand to gain a ton of seats. If their seats weren't in trouble in 2006, they are not in trouble now when the mood of the country is worse.

I think this is the DLC trying to get as much as they can for their corporate masters before the clock runs out. To hell with our party presenting a united front...not when there are Republicans and the most unpopular President in history to please.

10 Blue Dogs...to me, we are not getting much for our 20 pieces of silver.

38. I think the ten seats thing is horseshit.
More and more I think they're covering up their own collusion in 911, or at least Hoyer is. Pelosi could just be a sucker.. she's been rolled many times before.

48. Not to be a "shit stirrer" (term from another thread) but
what makes you think the DLC clock is running out? They haven't gone away AT ALL, they are very powerful in the party, they just don't fly their flag any more. I submit that both of the leading (last-standing) presidential candidates were non-DLC in name only.

Of course I'll vote for any Dem, but I know who I'm voting for. DLC moderates, all of them. The progressives were pushed out early by the media. And much earlier this time than in previous elections. And now we even have people right here on DU suggesting, hopefully in jest but I fear not, that maybe a Republican running mate for Obama would be a good idea. :puke:

Scary if you ask me.

50. Because it is running out
For one, as you point out, they had to go underground. Ten years ago they were out in the open and proudly proclaiming their status.

#2, you better check who is DLC and who is not. Clinton is proudly DLC...."not-DLC in name only" does not apply to her.

Obama denounced the DLC and does not adhere to their principles, which go far beyond "moderate". To be DLC, you have to be a corporatist and somewhat of a neocon. You also have to be an authoritarian. Obama is none of those. He is a garden variety moderate.

The DLC used to control the DNC...they no longer do.
The DLC used to be the major source for campaign funding for a lot of Congressinal Democrats....they no longer are.

So yeah, they are on their way out, but they will kick, bite, scream and sell away everything we stand for before they leave.

Edited on Mon Jun-23-08 06:43 PM by thecatburgler
"I like football. I like girls." With that cheesy smirk on his face. Not that I thought him going to the party was a big deal, but acting like women were a hobby interchangeable with spectating sports the way he did is unbefitting of someone aspiring to be a Senator.

And now the more I know about him the less I like him. :puke:

18. And there are many here that espouse capitulation just like him.
I do not understand the logic in running our campaign based on what the Republicans might do or say.

We are in the driver's seat. WE need to be the one's setting the agenda, framing that agenda, and selling OUR undiluted message to the country.

The right-wing is out of step with the public and it's our job to highlight the differences between us and them.

And save any "BUT BUT... we don't want to seem weak on TERRA!" responses. The people losing their homes, the people who can barely afford to fill the gas tanks of their vehicles, the students who can't afford to continue their education... the economy is of paramount concern to them.

33. Ford is strange brew...
...he's hitched his ride to the DLC and a quasi-Republican line here in Tennessee. But the bubba's here aren't going to vote for a quasi-Republican, when they can always have a nice lily white one to vote for.

As much as I don't care for Ford, he was light years ahead of that creep from Chattanooga, yet he still lost.

I guess Ford is assuming his star is ascendant with national party politics, but I think he's relying on the old model. Times have changed.

45. I have an odd reaction to him. Instead of reading him as "black",
I read him as "privileged". He tends to get my blue coller hackles up. One symptom: he went to good schools but failed to pass the bar exam. I'll grant you he was campaigning at the time, but in 10 years he apparently hasn't taken it again. It's irritating to me, because my brother passed both the Ohio and NYS bar exams first time around, but without connections had a hell of a time finding work.

46. From blackcommentator.com......
Thanks to corporate recruitment and campaign dollars, Clarence Thomas has lots more company now – and not just on the Republican side of the aisle. The Democratic Leadership Council (DLC), which vets corporate contributions to the party, has purchased a chunk of the Congressional Black Caucus and threatens a wholesale subversion of African American politics down to the grassroots level. The DLC appears to be working in tandem with rightwing foundations and think tanks that are busily cultivating Black Trojan Horse politicians with the aim of imposing a “New Black Leadership” – politicians like Rep. Harold Ford, Jr.

Harold Ford Jr. is a conehead.
