And I really don't care that he "flip flopped" on it. The GOP can whine about that all the way to obscurity.

Here's a reminder of what happens when Democratic candidates don't have the cash to fight back or strike first:

2. Funny thing is i don't think he will need it.
I believe he could get elected without flooding the election with money. I just don't understand it.

6. In principle, I don't agree. In the world of reality as it exist now, I do agree with you on this.

If anyone cares about the progressive agenda it is necessary to make the Democratic Party competitive all 50 states. As long as close to half of America has to be surrendered to the crazy right-wing Republicans in order to devote the remaining resources to hold on to the other half, we are not going to get anywhere.

I hope it will be possible in the not too distant future to have genuine and real lobbying and campaign financing reform with public financing of all races - but when the GOP have an institutional lock on close to 50% of America - we cannot fight with one arm tied behind our back.

7. Wimpy whining about our financial might only makes the GOP look impotent
Bad for guys who fancy themselves to be muscular hairy chests. Even worse when the privatizers are saying taxpayer dollars should finance their campaign.

8. If real finance reform existed, no problem, but the R's are playing sucker games
and, guess what? The Dems aren't playing those games this time. GOP "whining"--I'll have whiskey.

12. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
I for one am glad I said "no" to donating a dollar to the presidential election fund on my tax form this year, because now it will ALL go to McCain.

13. The GOP outrage is quite amusing
If only they were this outraged over lies about the war. McCain should look in the mirror for a good definition of "disturbing."

21. The logic is obvious -- politically, McCain would lose less by stonewalling, & he knew it ...
The GOP consituents could care less about either 'flip flops' or not taking public financing, something many don't even support in principle. So he wouldn't bargain in good faith w/Obama (or the McCain 'team' and the Obama 'team') and the deal fell through.

People whining about OBAMA on this (as McCain's folk foresaw) are simply looking for something to get him on.
