For McCain.

It's obvious. The image above is a capture from the latest Web ads McCain is running.

JoeMentum has the charisma of a zombie in a coma, and the fundies and extreme wingers would hate him because most of his positions on domestic issues have been pretty mainstream Dem. And that ticket would make Fred Thompson look exciting. A whole bunch of Republicans would just stay home.

Please, let him choose Joe.

29. The sad thing is--Lieberman might be a charisma boost for a McSnooze ticket.
Just to go "hey, I'm being Maverick again, see? A Demo-pendent--aren't I novel?" Lieberman's ability to support McCain has been something like a repudiation of all the liberal positions he's ever held before, so conservatives might like him as a "convert"--prodigal sheep returned to the fold and all that. If he turns to them--why, they *must* be right!

It couldn't possibly be anything like, "Joe Lieberman, enjoys the idea of being VP. More than principles."

I'd bet a shiny new quarter on McCain picking someone younger and more telegenic than Lieberman, though. Not too telegenic--you know, so as not to look like a troll by comparison. But just enough so the whole ticket doesn't look like an unmade bed.

We just don't agree with him, so he's 'an independent democrat'.

Clearly not a Republican in any case, which is the actual point here.

39. I agree with your sentiment but not with the details
Unfortunately, the biggest, most consistent demographic for the Republicans is and has been white, non-Hispanic males of nearly all ages, for a long time. And just as unfortunately, in many cases, it's because Repub. voters are trying to retain the unfair societal and economic privileges they have.

I don't mean to bash the many white males who DON'T support Republicans. But it's not primarily a few old ladies and AL retirees who account for why Dems. have lost Presidential elections. Check out the voting gap.

But, I almost find Joe Lieberman more repulsive than anyone, because you throw in the complete and utter Traitor factor -- and the way he has been groveling like a whipped dog at the feet of the people who beat him in 2000 -- and he's just completely sickening. Not to mention he looks like a deformed frog and has a voice that could induce vomiting...
