2. Is this ad REALLY from the McCain campaign?
I can hardly believe it!

Stood up to Bush while you were giving him a big bear hug?

Peace? You mean the same peace from what you said is "More wars?"

This is a joke!

5. Will the media call a Republican on his bullshit?
To quote the Sheriff of Nottingham's catchphrase in BBC America's Robin Hood series, "a clue: no".

6. This is great...

He must be bothering the hell out of his base. They've spent decades denying that Global Warming exists, and getting furious with the press "going along with it."

McCain is campaigning on the platform, "Republicans have been dead wrong and have to turn 180 degrees on this issue." They've been passing around anti-global warming propaganda and beating it into their heads for so long, many will not be able to accept this. He's surrendered the environment issue for his party forever. And that weakens all the big industry types who come out to support republicans.

I don't see how this strategy can gain him near enough independents to offset the number of base republicans he'll drop by doing this. And he's already having major problems with donations. Instead of consolidating the republican base, he's driving in more wedges.

Instead of helping McCain with his base by positioning him as a war president, I think the 527s should help out Bob Barr with some "John McCain is a fake republican!" commercials. "Stop him, before he destroys the GOP!"

13. Who's the target audience for that ad? Are independents strong environmental voters?
The Republican base sure isn't and I doubt that indies are either.

If he's going after the Dem base, and it almost appears to be that he is, I can only offer this:
